Ever feel trapped?

Ever feel trapped? That's how I felt at midnight last night when I realized that the kiln I was firing was nowhere near being done and that I was going to be stuck babysitting it all night. I got home at 5am, after being awake for 24 hours solid.

The good news is that I managed to fire a gas kiln all on my own for the first time. Nothing blew up, I got very pretty heavy reduction, and I got experience.

The bad news is that it didn't finish until 4:30 am and due to that, I didn't wake up until noon and I didn't really feel alive until 5pm today.

I put a lock on the kiln so that no one can open it early (if you open a kiln before its cooled down enough, the rush of colder air causes pieces to crack sometimes). I find out Sunday night if I did a decent job of firing or not. I have two of my grad-school application pieces in there, so I really hope I did a good job.

I am still one tired woman though.
