Blarg - up till 1am firing a kiln

I'm trying to do kiln firings around my work schedule, so I attempted to fire a kiln starting at 7pm last night. 5 hours later, the kiln was still not glowing orange (so that I could turn up the last level) I turned it up anyway and went home.

Checked the kiln this morning before work - it was off as it was supposed to be, but still too hot to unload (totally expected) I'll go back tonight and unload late.

I am very sleepy.

just make sure if you are using a cone that it doesn't go limp too early..I once had one that didn't break, and I over fired a load...jeeeeez what an expensive mistake..

so use a timer and never nver assume some cone is gonna stay hard or will work the way it 'supposed to..some drop early, go limp earlier..

Hey WTF, sounds like a man. ROFL

No, I don't run classes - I'm a student at a university.

We have a time on the kilns, but its only a failsafe shutoff. By the time it turns off the kiln, if you put the wrong cone in or your cone broke for some reason, then your load is way overfired before it shuts off.
