Dreams of being a girl: Teeny bopper

I’ve already told you about the times mum and dad went out and I ‘borrowed’ some of mum’s underclothes and a dress. That dress was a wonderful orange one, just like some of those featured in Saturday Night Fever.
I could have danced all night in that dress I was so happy wearing it. I had no other care in the world. I swished and swirled and saw it bounce around my legs. I was in heaven.
It looked so beautifully feminine and with a bra stuffed with socks (I didn’t have my own breasts in those days!), stockings, suspenders and a net and lace underskirt. I was a real girl.
I wore make-up as well and I recall a wig of my mums to complete the teeny bop girly look. Any boy would have been proud to have had me on their arm! Well that was my dream…
Time passed and ‘real’ women came along and distracted me. And I fell for it. I had to be seen to be a real teenage boy and not a ‘sissy’ as the Americans call it.
But secretly, in the back of my mind, my little Alison still lived on.
