You wouldn't understand

How many times have you heard this?

How many times have you said it?

I've had a bad day, you would not understand.

It is understandable that we all need time to ourselves from time to time, but I ask you one question.

How are we supposed to understand if you don't share it with us?

I know that some friends or only there when everything is great and wonderful, but your true friends are there to help you through these troubled times, the bad days, and will always try to understand if given the chance.

Agreed, however how do you tell a supposed friend that she has been the cause of a depression by telling you that everything that you do in your life is wrong ? She'll judge the things I do when all I ever try to do is help her out and listen.

Do you know i cannot recall ever saying that.

When ive had a bad day i tend to have a good rant...then 10 minutes later im laughing my head off with someone.

Im told my moods do change very quick from grumpy to happy. Also i can change from happy to a bit of a nark quickly too....then im back to happy again once the nark has been sorted.

I used to bottle things up lots, before the attack. After it i realised no-one is a mind reader & life is too short to mess around with juvenile games of acting like nothings wrong. So now if im pissed off with someone or theyve hurt my feelings...out it comes to be sorted.

Same if someone has made me happy or given me a huge lift for the day...i tell them.

I love sending letters into places to mention a kind act a member of staff has done or how theyve helped me in whatever way. I imagine the smile that person will have all day & it makes me feel great knowing ive made someone happy.

So yes...in a very long winded reply to your post. I agree...if youre upset, pissed off, angry or whatever speak about it & it will make you feel so much better too. Also speaking out loud of makes you see things different than mulling it over in your head alone.

I guess I feel that if I didn't really want to know...I wouldn't ask...I don't mind having people vent to me...sometimes it is just good to get it out...

You wouldn't understand is sometimes code for:
It's not up for converstion.
It's about you, DUH!
I'm not close enough to you to go there.

reverend21 replies on 6/10/2006 5:51 pm:
ah, but it seems like you have a time or two, sometimes even a stranger, is better than someone you are close to, better to vent the small stuff than let it build into something big

We need to talk and to listen Rev, sometimes statements like the one you noted is a bit of a test to see if the listener gives a damn...and if I say it to someone...I REALLY don't want to talk about it, but it's an acknowledgement that yes something is wrong so LEAVE ME ALONE!!!

I agree with you, but you also have to remeber that a true friend knows enough to leave you space when you need it

I know for me I have to process how I feel about things before I share. I was numb soooo long that emotions are something I want to savor even the bad ones. Once I am still and know how I feel about something...then I share to either vent, seek advice, or just SHARE period. Kisses Rev {=}
