Inner Strength

This is a topic that confuses people almost as much as freedom. Everybody has their own view point and opinion as to just what inner strength or 'power' as some people refer to is.

When I was a cop, I ran into a lot of people who felt that a gun and/or a badge gave you power. Sorry, a gun is merely a tool or a utensil, a badge is a symbol of authority, nothing more. True power comes from within and it can never be taken, only given.

Example: while on a LRRP(Long Range Recon Patrol) with the military of a friendly government, a member of that countries team decided that collecting the price on my head was worth the risk. I discovered this when he stuck his weapon in my ear and threatened to shoot if I did not cooperate.

I had a choice to make, allow him to have power over me using fear as his weapon, or risk death. I chose the later, as he found the barrel of my side arm pressing against his balls, lined up so the shot would exit his head.

Yes, it was a risk, but I has not about to allow him to bend my will to his bidding. He found that when I turned to look him in the eyes he had only one choice he was able to make, he dropped his weapon.

How do I tap into this power? I find one thing to focus on, one thing that is the most important thing in my life. Protecting those dear to my heart, family and friends.

When I ripped a disk in my neck, this strength allowed me to work with excruciating pain. When it seemed like I was about to loose my son and when my ex does everything she can to hurt me, it is this strength that allows me to push on.

Hopefully this will help somebody, if not, it has allowed a little more insight into the man called Reverend.

Great insight. Thank you. Power can be misused in the wrong hands, it seem s as though you use yours and tap into it for the right purposes.

Seems like we have far more strength than imaginable when needed when used from a pure heart. {=}

rev{=}I can say {{not by choice...mind you}} that I have been in a few sticky situations...laid-out...but, I always got back-up 'on my feet' and looked them 'right-in-the-eye'...{{in a few instances}} it was possibly a real 'dumb' move...but, I'd rather go down with my 'Pride intact'...standing-up for what I believe in...

I think of myself as a strong person. But I am facing this surgery...and I am scared to death. I need to tap back into this inner strength...and I am having trouble getting there. Anything you can tell me will help.

I visited your profile to get more insight into who you are, and came up with the perfect way to tap into your inner strength. LOVE, for your kids, your family, your freinds. loove is the most powerful force there is, will undo any magic spell, and destroy any evil. Remember, bravery is not the lack of fear, it is how you face your fears. You will be in my prayers, and hopefully you will find a little help in my words to see you through safely.
