My Vent

I may not have a degree or a diploma, but my schooling was from "The life of Hard Knocks"

I completed year 10,then I went straight in the work force.By the time I was 19, I had my first child(my idea was that I could love someone that came from my own body)had another baby when i was 22, married,boy was that a mistake.Then foolishly we /or at least I thought to have another child to patch up the marriage.My ex was a drunk,and had a foul mouth.He verbally abused me and the children, so enough was enough.

I moved out of the family home with the children(to which much later I was penalised for leaving the family home) as I could not bear to live under the same roof.A custody battled ensued there after.He contested custody,and it dragged on for 18months.That was in '88,89, I finalised my divorce from him.

The family court in Brisbane granted him access,alternative weekends.This was an in convenient arrangement so I was sick of playing his stupid game and decided to move as far away from him as I could. So I packed up the kids and we moved to another state.

When we had moved,the court order was to say that I had to let the children ring him every Sunday afternoon, guess what?He wasn't there, or when he was, he said that he had his own life now.I mean, how selfish can you get?The man contested custody, let it drag on for 18 months, now he decided that the children were redundant?

So you may wonder why I bring this up now?Its because of petty little issues that arise on this site, people do not see the big picture.
I was a pacifist in my marriage, till one day,I'd had a gutful and told him what I thought.He asked me if I was drunk - I said I don't need dutch courage to talk to you.From that day forth, I've always spoken up.Now its time for me to bite my tongue,believe me its hard to say what I really want to say,but there are times when its wiser to hold your tongue.

Robin, No one should ever have to put up with abuse, verbal or physical. I support your actions and someday other will too. Here is an Old EMT Hug and a wish for a joyful future... { }
