Topper movie from 1937

TCM has lots of great old movies. Topper was one I saw recently with Constance Bennett and Cary Grant, Roland Young and Billie Burke. They all looked quite elegant, except for Roland who looked appropriately fuddy duddy.

I think Cary Grant was the most elegant man who ever graced the movies. And Fred Astaire the most adept dancer followed closely by the athletic Gene Kelly.

The studio system and black and white films has a style that Hollywood has lost. Films were made for an older demographic so could allow some sense and sophistication.

Other old favorites include Humphrey Bogart, Gregory Peck, Spencer Tracy, Clark Gable, Errol Flynn, Gary Cooper and James Stewart. More recently Paul Newman and Steve McQueen.

They really don't make them like they used to!

Lol. I watched that last night too. I love Cary Grant. I wish I could go back in time to be with him. I love Topper and am so glad they didn't show the colorized version that Turner is guilty of doing.

Cary Grant makes me swoon.
He was just so suave and debonair.
Some actors these days look as if they smell bad.

I think George Clooney is channeling some Cary Grant as he ages! He is the closest thing in the modern era, but Cary Grant just looked and sounded so classy in a tuxedo! And no one dances like Fred Astaire!
