Lucky homeless in New Orleans

Just thinking how bizarre it is to be a "lucky" survivor of a disaster. Got a mailer asking for help for the 90,000 homeless in LA county. They are not in the news and not getting debit cards, billions in aid or offers of free housing.

It would have cost $14 Billion to fix the levees and repair the hazard under the 1998 proposed Coast 2050 plan. Now how much to fix the destruction. North of 100 Billion for the government alone.

And how much is spent on Iraq so far, and the continuing cost of some $3 Billion a month.

The impact must slow the economy some and increase infaltion some. Oh well, this too will pass.

Glad our world is intact and continuing.

I'm wondering.....

Do we really think living below water level is such a great idea? In a city that pumps water out on an average day to keep from flooding? When you look over the levy from the street and the boats are higher than you? mmmmmm let us rethink our thinking on this.

I think New Orleans will be a lot smaller when rebuilt. Drain some and make it a lake and pile up dirt and make some much higher! Etc.
