John Lennon's Imagine

Watched Imagine about John Lennon's life on cable again recently. He was truly special. I am listening to the Imagine CD in my car too.

I like the song "God is a Concept" which keeps repeating what he does not believe in, until he gets to what he does: Yoko and him. I think he could throw in his kids too. But I sympathize with his thoughts that the dream is over. He used to be the Walrus, now he is John.

Sad to see the way his life was haunted by all these nutz fans asking him to reunite the Beatles! Pathetic. And all the dummies blaming Yoko for the breakup. So sad.

I do disagree with his line in Imagine about private property and possessions. Freedom includes the right ot invest in the future and build something. Without possessions and private property there is no incentive and the lazy bums reap the benefit of others hard work. Not fair.

The critique that religions give people further excuses to kill each other seems too true in Iraq now. And in London and New York too.

I have always found "Imagine" to be a beautiful, creative work, focussing on the aspects of life that separate us, physically and spiritualy. Possessions do indeed separate us...all of the industries devising levels and means of security. I think the point is to understand what is on both sides of any lock.
...want to see the darkest side of someone? take something from them. the resulting anger, and yes violence, often overshadow the value of the possessions.
