sneakers

What's the deal with straight men and sneakers? I'm not very fashionable, I admit, but why the insistence on wearing something (even for leisure) that's more work to put on and take off, causes sweatier stinkier feet, and is difficult to clean in order to get rid of the increased stench?

I'm curious because I don't know any younger straight men who don't wear sneakers most of the time. Lounge shoes are so much lighter and more comfy. Ever notice how old guys wear lounge shoes a lot? Because they likely know loungers/moccasins are a hell of a lot more comfortable and less constrictive on feet.

Then you definitely have not met the right men. Most guys, myself included find shoes which require the least effort, especially when they need to come off. Sneakers, though are made for working out, so they should handle sweat, as long as they are not worn for more than a few hours.

I don't know what you mean by younger, but I wear sneakers only when it's necessary. Actually, most women are shocked when they discover that I own so many pairs of shoes and boots, almost like it's not manly to do so.
But your query is similar to one that I pose about women... Why exactly do so many women wear shoes that are obviously quite uncomfortable? While you wonder about the practicality of men's footwear choices, I do the same for women's. Is aesthetically pleasing footwear worth the pain and strain of those shoes?

I sympathize. I get made fun of by my women friends for not owning any spike-heeled hooker shoes or ridiculously platformed foot- boats. I own mostly flats and a couple of chunky-heeled shoes for wearing dressy stuff and trying to pretend I'm tall...lol.

I've always worn loafers, even before I became an "old guy" (not really that old, though). I honestly can't remember the last time I wore sneakers... maybe in 12th grade gym class!
