The One Place
The One Place
Where that one place? Your favorite place in the world? The place you would prefer to be if you had your druthers?
For me it is the ocean. And I was there yesterday, for the first time in a very long while.
It doesn't matter to me what ocea. It can be clear and warm or murky and cold, I love the ocean. I love the smell of the salt in the air or on my lips after I take a dip. I love the wind that is always drummed up by the tide, that blows my hair into my eyes, but somehow it never bothers me, even when it masks the warmth of the sun that inevitably burns my sensitive skin. The sound of the waves crashing on the shore, rhythmically lulling me into that peaceful inner resting place that I very rarely find in my hectic life. This weekend, it was the way it rocks you when you are in a boat, sometimes agressive and firm, reminding you that the ocean reigns on this planet, or gently rocking you, showing you the beauty of the way the tides are connected to the whole universe.
The ocean gives me such a sense of peace and serenity, even on rainy, windy days when the waves are crashing fiercly on the shore. Its still peaceful to me.
The ocean is the place I long to go when my head is clouded with things that I can't seem to release. I long to go there when I need to take a breath and compose myself when the world appears to be plotting against me. The place that reminds me of how fun childhood is.
Being there this weekend and seeing that same joy on my children's faces was priceless....I need to take them there more often.
I hope everyone has this type of place. Do you? If you do, go there soon and find that peace, it is well needed by all of us, and too seldom utilized.
I am at peace.
