I had fairly-long chats with three men today. Each of them wishes I was bisexual and lived closer to them. I, meanwhile, was wishing that they were women and lived closer. I guess I'm just difficult to please.

Lots of work ahead of me

Well, the second job offer didn't come through. So, I'm going to accept the one from Seattle. I have lots of stuff to do now. I left a voice message and e-mail for the recruiter, but at some point really, really soon, we have to get in contact so we can make everything official and plan for my move up there. I have to tell all my friends and family. I have to notify all of the other recruiters and pull my resume from several resume sites. I suppose, at some point, I have to start packing.
Maybe, once I get my mind wrapped around all of that, I can start looking forward to actually being on the job, getting to know my coworkers, learning the environment and the problem domain, and generally ramping up to being productive.
Damn! This'll be harder than job searching!

Happy Birthday to me! (Where are my presents?)

Yes, today is the anniversary of my birth. I'm still in that age between childhood and parenthood where my birthdays don't quite matter to anyone.
Okay, that's not entirely true. My sister made cupcakes for me last weekend and my family is going out to dinner next weekend.
I have a job offer in hand now. I'm waiting (and hoping) for the other job offer to show up. It would be a nice birthday present if it showed up today, but that's not likely.
Tonight I'm going out to a technical meeting. There will be free pizza. Maybe if I close my eyes, I can pretend it's a birthday party for me.

Please excuse me for going geeky in this post. I popped into Goodwill today, on my way to pick up groceries and not expecting to see anything worth buying, and saw this. Generally, I avoid the generation of computers from the early 1980s that had morphed into video-game systems. I had a lot of opportunities in the late 1990s to pick up swaths of TI-99, Atari home computer, and Commodore VIC-20 games, and decided that I'd concentrate on dedicated video-game systems instead. So, I hadn't really been interested in the Atari XE, which is really the last gasp of the Atari home-computer line (despite what it says on the box). But here was an XE in its original box, staring at me with a price tag of $12.99 with the threat of "no cables" penned onto it. Well, I pulled the trigger and now I can claim to own an Atari XE, two games (not counting the built-in "Missile Command") and one older Atari computer game which (apparently) will play on this system.
Too bad I don't have a power supply for it. Crap, crap, crap. I may order one online. Eventually. Meanwhile, this Atari XE is pretty to look at. Look at those pastel buttons on the console! And the standard Atari controller with the gray base! Cute.

My back is a little sore

Perhaps all of that traveling I did last week has finally caught up with my body. I could use a pair of soft, gentle hands massaging my back. Or perhaps I could use a pair of lips kissing their way down my spine.

I'm still tired from yesterday, but I went and visited my family. I ate quite a bit of pizza and cupcakes in premature celebration of my birthday. I really need to get back to eating less and exercising more.

I'm missing the driver for the digital-media hardware on my laptop, so I can't use that to move the photos from my camera to my laptop. So, you'll just have to imagine what I look like sprawled on the couch in my hotel room in Seattle. Meanwhile, I'm going to watch the game.

Reporting from Seattle

I'm ready to settle down for my first night in an unspecified hotel in the Seattle metro area. I hope to wake up on time, arrive at my interview on time, and not drool on myself during the interview.
I think I forgot to pack the A-to-mini-B USB cable that I was holding just six hours ago. So, I can't upload the picture I just took.
