A really ominous feeling tonight...

I am having a serious bad feeling about what's about to happen.

There has been a radical element in Islam that seeks to exterminate Israel. Hezbollah, Hamas, Al Queda...the president of Iran...

I think we're about to find out how crazy some of these terror groups really are....and who really has what weapons of mass destruction over there.

So I am not the only one then... and it won't matter who does it first...

yet another reason i'm so glad i'm child-free by choice. i'm expecting world war 3, or an unreasonable facsimile thereof, and the reinstatement of the draft within the next 6-12 months. we're already spread too thin, and between our cowboy in washington and the crazies in the middle east, i'm pretty pessimistic.
i sure don't want to fall asleep with this as my last thought for the evening - don't you have a joke or something to lighten the mood?

que sera sera

We can't spend our lives worrying about what might or might not happen. Life is too short for that. I aree with pulling all US and UK troops out of the region and letting them all go to hell.

Bye everyone, it was a blast

Me Too, as I watch the news so seldom because I see no need to inflict suck stupidity a pond myself but I watched last night...

...As far I am concern we need to GET OUT AND GET OUT NOW and let them fight it out among them selves and take care of our own shit here but MONEY and OIL and the POWER they bring are the only REAL reason Bush has us over there to begin with...

I feel free to say this here...That the destruction of us all will with out doubt come from one of these Women HATING countries....

I do NOT feel good about this at all...And I too chose NOT to bring any Life into this Earth Walk by choice and these are just some of the many reasons way....Ready

Ready

Fortunately we have the Isrealis on our side. As usual, we went about this entire matter wrong. Leave Hezbollah and Hamas to the Isrealis, supporting them with spec ops forces. The best way to fight terrorists is by using some of their own tactics. Not by overwhelming force. Iran? If we hadn't fucked up world opinion by Iraq, they'd be no problem, especially with Saddam still in charge. Hate to say it folks, but as long as there are fundamentalists of ANY religion, we're gonna have problems. Perhaps we should make more of an effort to see exactly how many virgins there are in heaven. I have no problem in creating as many martyrs as it takes to convince them that it's a non-profit thing. But let's go after the ones who count.

Yep. We don't have to gyts to take out Iran's nukes...but this is probably why Israel is doing what it's doing...looking for a chance to take a shot.

I too have been watching with interest. But, mostly because I know it has all been written.

European nations unite * Daniel 7 and 9
Russia is a world power * Ezekiel 38 and 39
China is a world power * Revelation 16:12
Arab nations unite with Russia against Israel (assumes Israel is a nation) * Ezek 38
A World Government takes over * Rev 13

SIMULTANEOUSLY: Global Terrorism increased * 2 Tim. 3

Weapons of mass destruction aren't needed. The purpose of terrorism is to inspire terror, fear. That is the most destructive weapon of all. We surrender our freedom for a dubious promise of safety, the entire world ends up in a "war" where no one knows who the enemy is, or how to define victory.

As to the garbage of biblical prophecy above ... any bigot can find whatever they want by going to the bible and quoting it out of context - literary and historical - and then twisting it to their purpose. Most scholars with any historical knowledge of the ancient world refute the above interpretations.

For example: " It has been shown on the basis of exegesis, hermeneutics, linguistics, and historical anthropology that, 1) Gomer cannot be Germany but rather Gimarrai, 2) Meshech cannot be Moscow but Mushki, 3) Tubal is not Tobol'sk but Tabal, 4) Gog is probably a personage, 5) Magog is unidentifiable except as a general reference ("land of Gog") to Asia Minor, 6) rosh is not a reference to a place but is to be translated "chief" or "head," and 7) the terms "north parts" and "north quarters" cannot mean Russia but, within Ezekiel's frame of reference, refer to modern Turkey.

What Ezekiel prophesied, then, is an end-time battle involving the following nations coming against Israel: 1) Turkey (Meshech, Tubal, Magog[?], Gomer, Togarmah; 2) Iran (Persia), 3) Sudan (Ethiopia or Cush), and 4) Libya."

As to Daniel, in verse 7-23: "Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces."

If I interpret this to mean that the United States is the fourth beast, who is there to prove me wrong?

I used to argue with a radio preacher on Sunday nights...eveything he'd quopte one way, I'd fiund just the opposite somewhere else in the Bible. The Old Estament is full of great strange stuff. Don't be a Midianite.

So far Israel seems to have shown restraint. Did you watch the broadcast of the addresses to the Security Council given by the Israeli and Lebanese ambassadors to the UN? I couldnt help feel very sympathetic towards the Israeli viewpoint.

puntachueca replies on 7/14/2006 6:31 pm:
One of the problems is we're not dealing with real "antions"...there are these huige armed gangs...well armed gangs...that operate outside of any government...what can Lebanon do to get rid of their terrorists? Israel is probably doing them a favor in cleaning out the rats so they can have a real nation state government.

I have friends in Lebanon... I'm worried for them.

The root of the Lebanese internal problems is that, in trying to please all factions when independence was achieved, they ended up pleasing no one. That's one reason Hezbollah managed to entrench itself... Had Lebanon had the equivalent of Turkey's Ataturk, this might not be happening now.

puntachueca replies on 7/16/2006 7:54 am:
That's the fundamental problem with democracy...without a provision sort of mandating tolerance between factions, someone is always going to try and take over...hell look at the fight in this country with our fundamentalists who want to impose their values on everyone else. In a lot of places the only successful way to stop ethnic and religious conflict has been a strong central authority who won't allow that crap.

It is sad that the Israelies are inflicting so much harm on the ordinary folks in Lebanon and can't single out Hezbollah...getting them out of the way would probably be beneficial to the rest of Lebanon's people...but all this does is unites everyone against Israel and give Hezbollah more credibility...which is why they probably started the fight in the first place expecting Israel to do exactly what it is doing.
