2. You can eat what you want and when you want wherever you want.

3. You can decorate your entire home however you want.

3. You can have whatever pets you like to have.

4. You can work at odd hours and even spend time blogging at 3 AM.

5. You can wear whatever you want around your home.

6. You can sing, play music, or otherwise make all kinds of noise without bothering anyone (inside your home).

7. When someone is visiting and you don't want them around any more you can ask them to leave without hiring a lawyer.

8. You don't have a second set of relatives to deal with.

9. You can do your chores whenever and however you want and not have to meet someone else's expectations.

10. You don't have a lot of excess drama in your personal life.

your list is a good start - i'm sure we all could add to it, i'll just add "peace and quiet when i get home, and always a fab greeting from my way-cool cat"! make that my #1, in fact

Agreed. I got to 10 disadvantages and ran out of items. I could have kept going to at least 20 advantages.

You are so right. I have been on my own since I was nineteen and only had a roommate for one year out of the past twenty-five. It was the year from hell--she was young and extremely spoiled, among other things. Me, on the other hand, am pretty easy to get along with. We're still friends today, but I don't imagine the fact she was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder helped any.

the roller coaster ride of life....
having been married to someone who is a borderline...I doubt if I could live under the same roof with anyone without serious therapy.
