Rejection and reverse Prejudice

I've not blogged in a couple of days because I have been down due to a recent rejection. It was not a man it was from a gay community center were I volunteer. They took my money ($75) to be a member and I was training for a facilitators position just to find out after training that the group I hoped to co-facilitate did not want me because I am celibate and not Bisexual or using their words, I am not a bi-identifyed woman. This reverse prejudice might turn me away from the homosexual community or at least that community center. I think if we continue to cut oursevelves off from all that are not like us then we don't grow. I see gay only wanting to be around gay and straight only wanting to be around straight. How can we learn from each other if we don't mingle and get to know about each other, I don't want to become gay I just want to understand and be accepting to the life style. I thought blogging about it would make me feel better but I am still pissed. What I take away from this is that I choose to be celibate at this time and so I'm not like someone who didn't choose to be in the sexual situation that they are in. I can go back to being whatever when my journey comes to and end but when you are born different you can't change it when you want to, so with that said I will walk in peace on this one and be happy that I choose to be who I am today and anyone that can not understand that will miss out on a wonderful lesson.

Hi Pretty,

Sorry to hear about your rejection, you would think that with all the prejudice the gay community face that they would be more open to someone willing to learn about what they're about. It's their lost pretty.

Thanks bigatya, The Bi-women group may not want me but the trans-women group have welcomed me with open arms so I have my first group tonight. Wish me luck! What I have learned about groups or communities created by human beings is that they always become mixed with negative and prejudice feelings to the point that they are just like what they were running from in the first place.
