To feel or not to feel...that is the question....

Okay, let me give you some background information. I go swimming this evening about 7:30 p.m. with my child in our swimming pool. So we get in, shortly thereafter we start getting attacked by mosquitos. We get out, dry off, my child changes. I stay in my swim suit wrapped in a towel. I have to put my child to bed, sing some songs, etc. Well, I proceed to stay that way until about 9:45. I'm cold and wet. lol.

I get undressed and all is well. I get in the shower, get wet and shaving all the things that should be shaved. Then it happens....
I can't feel my toes on my left foot! They are numb! All except for my big toe and 2nd toe. WHY??? What happened? I haven't a clue! Why did my toes go numb?

They stayed numb for the entire shower. I didn't get out until about 35 minutes later and still numb. FINALLY about an hour later, I can feel them again. What in the world is wrong with me???? lol.

Were you sitting or standing. If you were sitting it's say you just cut of the bllod slupply to the foot by how you were sitting. If that isn't the case, then I couldn't tell you. I'm not a doctor...but I did stay at Holiday Inn Express Last night..LOL

It could be related to the ankle injuries you had in the past. If it happens again I would have it checked out.

Well... (sheepish grin )... I think I can help you with an explanation...

Since you hadn't commented on my blog in like 36 or 48 hours, or something like that, I put a little-bitty, small, almost-not-worth-mentioning hex on your left foot. I didn't know you were gonna freak out about it and all though...

Sorry about that...

But! Didn't you notice that shortly after you posted on my blog again (the John Travolta post ) that your toes were getting better?

Glad you came back and found me again... lol Talk to you later - butcha better make it quick!

Hypothermia is most likely the cause. Due to your skin already being cold & you not covering it, the skin continued to grow colder & was unable to heat back up. So when you finally applied heat to it in regards to a hot shower, you realized the problem. Thankfully it doesn't sound bad. The extreme limbs (hands/fingers, feet/toes) are usually hit the worse & then it moves up along the body. Ears & nose are also a potential for this. I've had it happen to be me before but usually only during winter time. However, case in point - right now it's raining out & it's 52F. I'm in shorts & short sleeve shirt, my fingers have that slight numb feeling (they are cold but not bad). Due to my body type I can get cold easily so I try to keep myself warm as much as possible (outside of summer heat, then I don't worry except for dehydration & what not). The best thing they recommend is a warm body (having someone rub the area which is cold, their body heat will transfer to you) - if you don't have someone to do then warm/hot (not burning) water can work as it will create circulation. When you are cold, the blood vessels constrict (get smaller - thus the "issue" with men "down there" when they get into cold water) so less blood (which is "warm") gets to those areas to keep you warm. The last resort is to cover up with articles of clothing or blankets to generate heat (actually heating bad or hot water bottles & waterbeds work great too).

I needed to get technical to explain everything...hope it wasn't too much, if you need anything else - just let me know!

I was standing in the shower, so I wasn't cutting off any blood supply. lol Whats that got to do with staying at the Holiday Inn Express??? lol

*shocked look* You didn't! Oh my gosh! So how often am I going to have to visit so I don't get such a hex on me again? Hmmmm...maybe you need to start coming by my blog more often. I would hate to place a hex on a certain body part and make it go numb. lol....

Well, I don't believe I was THAT cold. I wasn't chattering or shivering mind you, which is one of the first signs that hypothermia could happen. Your body shivering is actually your muscles contracting trying to generate heat to warm yourself up. *winks* Oh no, not to technical for me. lol. I comprehended it quite easily. lol. I even did a paper on hypothermia my last year in college.

Oh, and by the way as to the "issue" with men "down there" when they get into cold water...I refer to it as the "Turtle Effect". lol.

Ahhh...okay I do get cold hands/feet when they are exposed to cooler air for too long. Don't care for it but I'm not going to wear gloves 24/7 I do have slipper socks, so that fixes that problem.

ARe you sure someone was not behind you cutting off the feeling from the waste down? ..wink. Maybe you were hypnotized or something? lol Let me stop. In all honestly, I would not worry about it unless it start to occur repeatedly.

Then you might a foot message, a... =)

Just messing...but seriously. As they have all said above.. if it keeps happening, check it out..if not..don't sweat it. The body can do weird things when you are cold.

But hey what do I know? I'm more of an FBI guy than a PHD.

Maybe it just means you need some sexual healing. If you still can't feel your toes when they curling from an orgasm..then houston we have a problem..

you need to hide those blue eyes..they hypnotize..

g-day

You just gave me an idea of a new post...

...I have a pair of wolf slippers from years ago that are in excellent condition - that should draw a few comments

It was a very cute movie - most people would think "why are you watching this" because sometimes a G or PG movie can give you just as many laughs & make you feel good!

I wasn't good with intro to chemistry in high school (didn't pay enough attention, thus I didn't know much about it). Science isn't my strong point - math, english, art mainly. Though what's interesting, I love to cook which does involve chemistry. Hmmm...

Well I am 99% sure no one was behind me cutting off the feeling. Nope...not hypnotized either, sorry.

Well, so far it hasn't happened again and a foot massage would be in great need right now. lol.

Hmmmmm...fbi guy....do you get cuffs???? *hopeful look*

Now why would you want me to hide my eyes for?

lol Glad I could help! lol. I hate Chemistry personally. lol. I excelled in most of my classes..history, english, science, etc. Except for math. lol. Crazy isn't it?

I know a lot of people who didn't do well in math - it was natural for me but many thought I cheated because I would finish early or not show my work (I could do it in my head & not need notes). English took me a while uteventually I did well at it. Science was just something I had a hard time with...not bad though, same with History.

if it happens again, just massage them well for a while and see if they come back to normal. though it's probably nothing it doesn't hurt to tell your doctor and have it on your medical file.

any other areas you think might use a massage?... (wink)
kisses.
