Reunion...

I can't believe it! Its been 10 years since I have been out of high school. Where has the time gone? Has it flown bye? Not exactly, perhaps some has, but not all.

So, its time now. The "10 Year High School Reunion," which is unofficially titled as "see the who's who of your class bragging about how much money they make, how much their car cost, how fat she got, how hot he still is utter nonsense." As you should be able to tell, I'm feeling very ambilivant about attenting this function. I would like to go, yet again I don't. My thoughts on this is, if I wanted to know what "you" were doing since high school, I would have kept in contact with you! lol. I know, I know. Seriously, I am trying to talk myself into it and out of it at the same time. Is that possible you ask? Yep! It sure is, trust me, I've been doing this for the last 2-3 months.

Now, to the question of why I don't want to go. Well, mainly because I feel as if I haven't accomlished anything in my life. Blah. Boring, nothing has changed. Nothing to show for those 10 yrs. Well, other than my child which I am truly proud of, even if there are times I wish to string 'em up by toenails in a tree. Anyways...lol. I don't feel as if I have truly found my "purpose" in life. I can't say I have x amt of kids, happily married, wonderful job, awesome house, car, etc. etc... *sigh* Rather depressing isn't it?

Now, on to the reason I wish to go. Well, I suppose it plays into one of the "usual" fantasies people have. Attending their high school reunion and running into that "lost flame/1st love/crush" scenario, what if I were to run into my first crush? I still wonder what he is doing, how he is doing, if he's married, has he thought about me any. Yes, he did know that I had a crush on him. Eh, he didn't like me. lol. No one likes fat chicks. I did run into him a few years after high school, he was taking a summer class at the university that I was attending. I do know, that he is a lawyer. *sigh* I knew I should have went on to medical school! d'oh! What if we were to go and something should "click?" to happen with us? Oh, the things fairy tales are made of! lol. Besides, not just him, but perhaps one of the hot guys from high school? lol

So, my question is this. Should I go? Should I not? Does anyone have any positive/horror stories from their high school reunion? Help me decide!!!!!!

You should go! You will be surprised at home many people feel the same way you do! Most of us don't accomplish exactly what we thought we would....but you can be happy that you are a great parent! And....you never know who you'll run into...or what kind of fairy tale you could begin! Have fun!

GO! You will regret it if you don't. I missedmy 10 year reunion and I missed the chance to show off the fact I wasn't a fat geek anymore. I won't miss my 20 year reunion. I have been checking on it for a while. It won't hurt to renew old friends and just catch up on people you haven't seen in a long time. And who knows what will happen? You might rekindle the flames of friendship you thought long gone. And there is nothing wrong with that.

I went to my 30th last fall, and had a great time. I didn't even hear about the 10th or 20th, but probably couldn't have made it to either of them anyway.

It was interesting to see that most of the women still looked pretty good, but most of the guys were having the same problem of losing the battles of the waist bulge and receding hairline.

Blue.... Listen to your heart and well sweety you have grown from that bubbly teenager to a wonderful woman and have grown wiser with time.. I am sure there would be many people who remember you for the fun times you may have had at school.. It would be great to connect with nostalgic times.. I have always had great times meeting some of my oldtimers..its been only 10 yrs for me too... but I must say the overwhelming joy of meeting people who for some reason are still frozen in time for me... those were the best days of my life.. I am sure you too had yours so Go Girl Go.. relive those moments... u dont want to miss another 10 yrs dont u ??

Well, the thing is I haven't changed that much since high school. My best friend says I look the exact same as what I did in high school. Yep, that sucks. lol. I didn't really "stand out" much in my high school. I was the typical "good girl." No wild parties, no boyfriends. Only fun thing I really did was drive my car in a bean field, yep I had been drinking. Although no one knew about it except my friends and they weren't going to tell! lol. Well, you all now, don't tell!

I did not go to any of my reunions, either secondary school or university. I was filled with a sense that they would be a nightmare, that all these people would judge me and that I had not fulfilled the potential that I had displayed, in short it would be a nightmare. I regret that decision now. At the end of the day if you do not go you will always wonder what sort of a night that you missed out on. The fact of the matter is that no-one will laugh or judge you and if they do you need not feel bad about it as they will be shaming themselves not you. I think that you should go as I am sure that you will have fun meeting with people who you have not seen for an age and laughing with them. The alternative is to spend the evening in front of a telly wondering what is happening and then spending the next day talking to people who did go and hearing everything second hand.

So instead you will be stuck in a bar with a friend each wondering what is happening at the reunion, you can run but you cannot hide.

Hey, at least I will be with a friend! lol. Who knows what kinda things we'd get into! Okay, okay, okay...her husband will be with us as well.

I did suggest to her that we should go. I said, "how many other legitimate reasons will we have to leave the kids with grandparents to go party?" lol.
