Steroid Nightmare.....Day 2..!

Day 2

Last evening was basically a repeat of the night before.....almost.

We ate dinner, followed by my wife carefully counting out her six little white steroid take for her poison ivy poisoning rash.

After she shook the six pills out of the pill bottle into her hand, she must've counted them at least four times to make sure she had the right amount. She also turned each and every one of the little pills over, as if to make sure that they didn't say "Midol" on one side of them..!

I've watched my lovely wife take medication before, but never noticed this "Rain Man"-like fascination or behavior of looking at and counting these pills, over and over.

We settled into the living room to watch "American Idol" and "House" on television, and the rest of the night seemed as if it was going to be normal and uneventful. The steroids must give her gas though...I couldn't help but noticing her very pronounced and numerous belches and farts.

About halfway through watching "House," there was a scene where a woman patient, with a still undiagnosed illness, was laying on an x-ray table, on her back; when she started to convulse in seizure. The extent of her physical reaction was so extreme...and her body literally arched upwards in such a pronounced manner, with only her heels and head still in contact with the x-ray table...that my wife was amazed that any human being could physically do that.

The show segued into a commercial at that point, and my wife looked at me and repeated her comment of, "I've never seen anything like that, before."

"I have." I replied.

I answered her with a totally sober, dead-panned expression. "About a year ago.....remember that threesome we had with that guy where we dp'd you?"

She immediately started to laugh hysterically.....and, called me an asshole.

For the next two and a half minutes...until "House" resumed from commercial...she laughed so hard she was crying and continually kept saying, "you ASSHOLE.....!"

This morning, upon awakening, I got up...and, as I was putting on my bathrobe, I glanced at my still-sleeping wife and noticed two things...she not only had all of the covers and blanket wrapped around her, but she was snoring...very loud. Things that she usually accuses me of being guilty of, while I'm asleep.

This morning, our time together over coffee, was without incident, other than the fact that she did mention that she was feeling very tired and was still itchy.

"Give it a few days to let the meds kick in." I reassured her, and went off to work.

During one of my phone calls home today, I did notice the sound of dishes and glasses clinking, as she was washing them, so I guess she's feeling a little better.....or maybe it's that we ran out of clean dishes and glasses..! be continued...
