Happy As A Clam...

Last weekend was my birthday...my 40th birthday, no less.

To celebrate this auspicious occasion, I asked Mr. Prag if we could spend the weekend in southern Maine.

Mr. Prag made the reservations...we coordinated with my ex to have my youngest for the weekend...and we were counting the days until we left.

Even with my post-Steroid medication problems for my poison ivy rash of a constant upset stomach...feeling run-down and miserable...and then the start of an upper respiratory infection, which STILL has me coughing so hard that I think my head is going to split wide-open, nothing was going to dampen my spirits.

Even when I woke up, that Friday morning we were going to leave...my birthday...my 40th birthday...and I got my period...Happy Fucking Birthday to me..!!!

On the drive up, traffic was very heavy...there were many accidents slowing things down even more...the rain that started just before we got out of Connecticut turned into downpours as we crossed into, and drove through Massachusetts...and many times we found ourselves just sitting...not moving at all...on the Mass Pike, I-290, and I-495.

It was during one of these "parking lot" times, that Mr. Prag turned to me and said, "This is not exactly the time or place I would've picked to do this, Honey...but Happy Birthday..!" And he reached around to the back seat, and gave me two cards and a small, flat box...about the size of the cards.

One card was a funny, but appropriate, 40th birthday card...the second was the most beautiful and perfectly worded card I have ever received in my life. The wording on greeting cards is very important to me, and each and every line on it was as if it had been written especially for me.

I would have been completely satisfied with just that card, but when I opened the box, I was even happier with the gift that Mr. Prag had gotten for me. It's a sterling silver and diamond butterfly necklace with a teardrop crystal.

The trip up eventually took 4 1/2 hours, instead of the usual 3, and I had to call and postpone our planned dinner meeting with fanstasylover_05.

When we finally got to Maine, we went directly to our favorite restaurant in York for dinner, where I proceeded to consume seafood stuffed mushrooms and the best fried clams that I've ever eaten.

Mr. Prag had made a phone call that morning, and when we were done with our dinner, the entire staff at the restaurant came out singing "Happy Birthday" to me and placed a slice of strawberry cheesecake with one lit birthday candle on it in front of me.

Yes, I was embarrassed...he's done that to me every year since we've been together.

We drove to our hotel in Wells...checked in...and called it an early night after making a few phone calls to those who had left me birthday messages on my cell.

I commented to Mr. Prag that it seemed too hot in our suite, but he said that he had turned down the thermostat setting from initially having it high to get rid of the chill.

Damned electric heat..! When I woke up the next morning at 5:30 am, my nose and throat felt like all of the moisture that was supposed to be there had evaporated. I had to stick my head out of our front door and breathe in the thick, foggy air to rehydrate my breathing passages..! I was motherfucking Mr. Prag, up and down..!!! "You're trying to kill me..!!!!" No exaggeration...it was 120 degrees in those rooms..!

For breakfast, we drove back to our favorite restaurant and I had what's become my favorite breakfast...a lobster omelette. Oh, yeah..!!!!!! Huge chunks of lobster meat folded into the eggs. My mouth waters just thinking about it.

From there we drove down to Kittery and the Factory Outlet stores. In and out of the stores we went...sometimes buying, sometimes not.

The weather had cleared and the sun felt fantastic as we went in and out of the stores. Even with it being a holiday weekend Saturday, there wasn't much traffic and the parking lots weren't overflowing, as they have been when we've been up there in the past.

We drove back up to Ogunquit...parked right on the main street...and spent about a half hour just sitting and relaxing with Ben & Jerry's Deep, Dark Chocolate, while we people-watched.

Mr. Prag took great pleasure in pointing out and commenting on every gay couple that walked by, and we both did our best to contain our laughter when a couple...a young guy and his hottie, ...her with ridiculously high, spike heels and the briefest mini-skirt imaginable...tried to walk on the cobblestone sidewalk...first one way, then the other, by us.

Mr. Prag's comment, whispered in my ear was, "My boyfriend made me wear these!" While my comment was, "Lose the guy...get a pair of comfortable shoes!"

We then took a leisurely drive along the beaches and rugged coastline, often stopping to just smell the salt air while we watched people walking on the beach, among the rocks, or fishing.

We eventually headed back down Route 1, and had another great fried clam dinner at our favorite restaurant.

With full stomachs, and having gotten a lot of walking in during the day, we had a drink outside, on our front balcony, and called it another early night...this time with new pillows that we had bought for home, instead of the flattened-out postage stamps in our suite, and, under the threat of death...Mr. Prag did NOT turn on the heat..!

Our postponed dinner with fantasylover_05 on Friday night had been re-scheduled to meeting for breakfast Sunday morning.

The hours that we spent together over breakfast literally flew by in an instant. Even our waitress didn't wait around for her tip, after her shift had ended and we continued to talk and laugh together over coffee.

fantasylover_05 is EXACTLY as his profile and blogs depicted him...an incredibly sweet and wonderful guy. Even as we said our good-byes, after looking at his amazing artistic design on his motorcycle, we both knew that we had gained another close friend who we will be seeing again.

We drove back to our hotel and wasted no time getting naked and jumping into bed...for some overdue lovemaking. While Mr. Prag was between my legs, about to give me my second orgasm, I looked out the bedroom window, that we had opened, to see another couple watching us. This brought on one of the most intense orgasms I've ever had.

Even though we were on the ground floor, we left the curtains open, as there was only an open field next door, and the cool breeze on this warm, sunny day...coming through the open window, felt great.

I never expected to look up and see a huge hat, with a woman wearing it and a guy next to her, watching us as we made love...just as I didn't expect that being watched, and then discovering that we were being watched, would evoke such an intense orgasm. We're going to have to do that again..!

We spent some time in both the hot tub and the heated pool, afterwards, then dressed and headed back down Route 1 for our final dinner...yes, fried clams again. When you find something that's absolutely perfect...why change it?

On the way back to our hotel, after dinner, we drove to one of the beaches...got out...and walked out onto the sand. It was low tide and the waves breaking at the water's edge were small.

Mr. Prag had told me of how cold the ocean water was in Maine...even in August, so when he urged me to experience it for myself, I tried it.

With only my feet and ankles getting wet, it still felt as if I had put my feet onto liquid nitrogen...it was THAT cold..!!!! I completely lost all feeling in my legs from my knees, down. Even after we had washed our feet off, and gotten back into the car later, it took about an hour before all of the feeling returned to my feet..!

We found some shells...I wrote our names in the sand with my toes...and as the last bits of light from the setting sun faded, we drove back to our hotel.

Next morning, after breakfast, and after stopping at our favorite candy store to stock up on our favorites, we headed south for the trip home.

Mr. Prag made record time in getting us home, safe and sound. The temperature soared, the further south we drove...thank God our air conditioner hadn't lost it's charge over the winter.

After getting home...my health steadily deteriorated. My coughing got worse...the phlegm from my throat turned all kinds of colors...I lost my voice...and even after finally getting to see my doctor Thursday, I'm still not feeling all that better.

But I do have last weekend to remember...an absolutely PERFECT weekend...and a very memorable 40th birthday. Just thinking about it now...makes me as happy as a clam.

Wow, what a wonderful story!! A lobster omelette....yum. Coming from the Boston area myself, fried clams are my favorite too. Whenever I go back to visit I always have to have friend clams, a lobster roll, clam chowder, and well, Chinese food. The Chinese food out there is a lot better
What a fabulous weekend- you are a lucky woman. Thanks for the great post!!
