Byron.. Bob Dylan.. Dylan Thomas

I am always amazed how a random chain of events can lead you down a new path.
I was watching the Lord Byron special this week-end and was struck with the inspiration to follow it up with the new Bob Dylan special - No Direction Home

When Bob launched into A Rolling Stone backed by that very fine (partially Canadian) group the band.. I couldn't help but think.. here is the modern day Byron.. less the angst.. the inappropriate lovers and the early death!! lol Well... maybe not the angst..

Then they segued into the myths of how he changed his last name.. and I dug out my old college Dylan Thomas books.. it is amazing to return to something with the wisdom of age..

I guess the lesson is.. dust off that old LP.. read that transformative short story.. watch that old TV series - you will be amazed at how it looks through fresh eyes!

Here is my favourite DT poem from freshman year.. yeah.. it got me the girls..

And Death Shall Have No Dominion
by: Dylan Thomas

And death shall have no dominion.
Dead men naked they shall be one
With the man in the wind and the west moon;
When their bones are picked clean and the clean bones gone,
They shall have stars at elbow and foot;
Though they go mad they shall be sane,
Though they sink through the sea they shall rise again;
Though lovers be lost love shall not;
And death shall have no dominion.

hi Stevem
Don't know if you'll be reading this, but l was in California at the time of this showing and thought it a great tribute to Dylan. Also been a fan of Dylan for many years and before my time is finished l want to hear Joan Baez in concert.
