Maybe it's Me...

I read profiles, and some I like and others I don't and still others are just "why bother?" after a couple of lines.

If I really like a profile, I might send a note saying so, and why. If I don't, I move on.

For the "why bother?" ones, I automatically assume that they're fakes. Scams. Phoney.

I mean the one's that are so similar to one another, with the same catch phrases and same overall "feel" that they must have been written by the same person or persons. Probably by commitee.

"Hey there! I'm the type who's eager to cut to the chase."
"Hey there! I'm not looking to change my life, I'm kicking it to the curb!"

Regardless of age, location or physical attributes, those generic profiles might as well be interchangeable and they suggest to me that the account belongs to somebody selling something.
And I'm not buying, no matter how nice the tit-pic is.

Is there anyone out there who is a real, honest person who also has that generic profile, with the uniform blandness that says nothing at all but looks like it was written by a bad marketing department?
I doubt it.

But, to be fair, it's entirely possible that the generic profile is the result of people letting AdultFriendFinder "professionally edit" a profile. If that's the case, then the "editors" at AdultFriendFinder need to get a new job, 'cause they ain't doing their clients any favors.

I read alot of profiles like that. I do the same as you do, just move on. I wouldn't think that those profiles get many responses but one never knows.

ROFLMAO...I hadn't thought of the "professionally edited" option before. Very good point. I wonder if it's worked for anyone???

The generic profiles are used by people that have nothing to say about themselves and get the profile writers here to do it. I won't reply to them unless it's to say why not write your own ? I get sick of seeing them - it either means that someone's too lazy to write their own, in which case why are they here or they have nothing to say, in which case I'm not that interested.

No matter how brief, someone that takes time to write their own profile stands out a mile from the deadwood ones.

I disagree with them not doing the clients any favours - from a womans point of view, it certainly helps sort the men from the boys !

VCF... I imagine you're right in the seperating the men from the boys, or the babes from the boobs as it were.
In my more charitable moments I remind myself that there are folk who just don't write; they may talk a mile a minute but when faced with a blank page and the prospect of organizing their thoughts they can't make the leap from verbal to written.

Mostly, as soon as I see the "Hey! I'm yadda yadda lip-flap..." I gon on to something else with a bit of irritation.
