Moon Dance

It was a plump, waxing Moon that bathed my bed with its white light that first night at the beach.

The Moon has always held a fascination for me. As a child I would look for it nightly, watching it grow or shrink, hide behind a shadow, or smile down at me with its full face.
With age I began to connect strongly to Moon's feminine qualities and its mighty influences on sex, fertility, love, the tides, and other Earthly cycles.

My previous home was out in the country, positioned in a way that when outdoors, we could easily track Moon's travels across the sky...and she often made an appearance at a window or two. How magical it was making love with shimmering Moonlight touching us! Her light would also bring me comforting dreams when I was lonely.

For almost forty years Moon's force was inspiring me with energy and creativity, pushing me to action.....and then quieting me as my body would bleed and ache. She increased my vulnerability, strengthened my intuition.

Now my relationship to her is different. Moon still wields a remarkable power.....pulling at the gazillions of gallons of water in the Gulf just outside my window that very night!.....but no longer does my body react the same same to her push/pull. Whatever energy and strength I gather, it now remains in me. All those years were teaching me to let go of the un-necessary, be open to and invite opportunities.

Realizing I had not yet honored this new phase of my life, I wrapped myself in a sarong and headed out to the beach, beyond the artificial lights, to where the shimmering white-caps glowed.

Instead of my looking to Moon for answers, we heard each other's songs.....songs about a renewed sense of friendships, of sexuality, of community.

And to those songs, I danced within the Moonbeams.

Thank you, Muffy.
Wish more women and men would slow down enough to really feel her!

Beautifully written post!
I miss so much in life.
I really DO need a woman to show me these things.
To enjoy. To just BE.

I have always had a special relationship to the moon as well. I never knew she was polyamorous, too!
