The Sauna Scene.

A most enjoyable evening in the sauna, and a few new people to add to my list of acquaintances. It seems strange, though, to make friends with people who sit aroud in the nude and chat from the first moment onwards but, being something of an exhibitionist in certain circumstances, I've found that I have no problems with my own nudity in front of strangers whatsoever; bearing in mind that it isn't a sexually based relationship.

After a good workout in the gym this morning, I was looking forward to sweating properly this evening, and I certainly didn't disappoint myself! I managed to arrive at the sauna just as a fresh load of water was poured onto the stones - flavoured, if you can call it that, with Eucalyptus - and my third session this evening coincided with the next refreshing of the humidity.

A cup of black tea rounded off the evening perfectly, and then the peaceful drive home listening to classical music on the radio. A perfect start to the weekend.

How relaxing that was. It has ever been so. This type of communal relaxation has been with us since ancient times.

True, Keith, but in Germany it seems to be losing some of its appeal, since the idea is that people mix with one another. There is a lot of suspicion surrounding an activity where people meet and sit around in the nude, even though East Germany had a very strong FKK (Frei Korper Kultur or nudist) movement right up until the fall of the Wall.

We loved the idea of sauna so much we built one in our basement. Where did I learn the pleasures of the sauna...not in the US...as I remember it was in Canada. It's a shame folks are so modest down here.

red: I was too, modest that is, until I saw how easy going all the other visitors to the place are and that there is a certain form of etiquette one follows. Of course, there are people who go there for the view, or who other people wouldn't share a sauna with, ro who are so immature that they laugh at a person and say 'I've seen you in the nude', but these people are few and far between, fortunately, and one learns who they are pretty quickly.
