Sad Perspective

My daughter and I are sitting here raising our glasses to a friend of hers who will not make it through the night. After a brief life with some questionable choices, his liver failed last week and kidneys shut down yesterday, the decision was made to remove life support this evening. At 23, he had started to turn his life around but now his journey is to someplace else.

I can envisage no pain greater than the loss of a child at any age.

Thinking of him and his family whose pain at this decision has to be unimaginable.

Puts everything else into perspective.

Sorry to hear about that. I worry about the decisions we make for our teen's and the choices that they have and will have to make in the future. Were faced with having him drive with friends who are new drivers, and i'm sure that there will be more issues going forward. But that does put things into perspective.
Let's chat soon.

May his family find comfort and strength with the knowledge that he is at peace with his Higher Power. Death is difficult for those living to accept, yet the dead no longer suffer through the pain.

My condolences.

Thank you for your kind words. It certainly keeps me awake at night worrying about them. No matter how well you raise your children, there's no way to prevent the peer pressure etc - just have to hope they will make the right choices.

My family has had it's share of losses and certainly it's been a consolation that the suffering is over. Other than the actual loss, nothing much worse that watching helplessly as a loved one suffers excrutiating pain.
