Now I feel really stupid

I am sure we have all done things in our lives that we regret and looking back think "Now that was just plain stupid"

Well that is me today. Looking back on events that took place, well just about this time yesterday evening.

It was around 7:30pm when I heard two cats outside my bedroom window fighting. Since I have two cats, that are in door cats I naturally assumed it was two strays. I went out to run them off. That is when I noticed that one of the cats was mine. Well damn it to hell, my son let my cat out.

Now pay attention cause this is where the stupidity takes over.
Being a over protective owner of my cats, I attempted to break up the fight, I threw a plastic pail at them and the stray ran off, with my cat in hot pursuit, and yes with momma trailing behind him. Of course he is all pumped up and pissed off, but do I care?
The other cat is pinned in a metal shed and my cat is on the outside, I am able to get him by the scruff ob the neck and carry him about 5 feet when he wiggles loose and hits the ground.
Well no sooner does he hit the ground then pounces up and latches onto my left wrist, hand and arm. Then proceeds to tear me to shreds.

Now before you all go chatting "kill the kitty", keep in mind it is my own damn fault, I should have never interfered.

I ran into the house and washed my wounds and covered them, being a nurse I realized they where bad enough to seek medical care, so I had my Dad drive me to the ER. Where I got cleaned up, a prescription for antibiotics and of course a tetanus shot. I am to return on Wednesday for sutures to one of my bigger wounds. That is gonna be fun.................NOT!

Don't anyone worry, my cat is the cat that got me and he is up to date on all his shots so, no I will not get rabies. Just in case you where wondering.

About 5 years ago I did about the same thing but mine latched into my thumb then her tooth actually punctured all the way through and wasn't able to pull her tooth out until I reached up and grabbed her and pulled her off... Needless to say I went to seek medical care and was told all sort of horror stories. Well I am still alive today and from what I hear so is the cat... I had to give her away she was a BITCH from day one and the kids didn't care for her.

Well glad to hear you survived your ordeal lol
Unlike your cat though mine is usaually very loving, he actually slept with me like a teddy bear last night. I don't blame him at all for what happened, he was just being a cat and I interfered where I should not have. He was actually kicking the other cats butt. That is probably why he got pissed at me. lol

I'd be a bit skittish after this. A cat should not turn on its pride, esp. on the alpha cat, which you should be.

If it was a dog, one would seriously consider putting it down.

Now, now like I said, I knew better but just wasn't thinking at the time. He is a good cat and I love him. There I said it, I was a little pissed off and upset with him at first but then again I was the stupid one, he was just defending his home.
