Of 19 and the lies that followed

The one that got away, I was thinking about him the other day.

He was so handsome I thought myself undeserving.
So sexy I didn't think I could control myself.

There was the flirting, the hot texts that would make me turn away while reading them even when no one was around.

And when we made out (can't believe those words are still in my vocabulary) it was hot and steamy, passionate but no completion. Don't want to do anything we might regret, he said, I nodded, reluctantly, why do you have to be the gentleman?

Then the question comes, How many lovers have you had? I've had 19, but that doesn't mean I've been careless.....

Shit, why do men have to do this, you are four years older than me, have had 19 lovers. Should I tell you you're doing okay, I prefer the experience? Should I answer your question honestly?

Have I scared you off? He asks; Concerned that his revelation has put me off.

No, I say, Do you mind if I do not answer your question? No he says, it never crosses his mind that I might have matched him.

19,20,21,22....what does it matter?

I was not his 20th, not that it matters now, he's the one that got away.

the number of lovers in the past should not matter, how you behave when your with someone and how you treat their memory if things should end...
i hope you can not come to regret the one that got away too much, trust your gut and your judgment

Even if he got away, there will be one out there that rocks your world. Our theory is, what you did before we met is none of my business. When I got divorced, I was a bad/good girl for a couple of years. I had more than I'd like to admit to. Hell, my first husband was a virgin, so was I. So, somebody had to teach me. Don't feel bad. If they want to keep score, they are the wrong one.

I love what Mundarikos said and I agree so much with lightswitch - no reason to keep score. Both comments are so true and I could not have said it better.

Whisper...

And now I have to erase my own score from my head
