I'm a 42DD, and I'm pissed about it

I was just at hourglasses's blog [post 93460] and I just had to start a rant.

I am 22. Not 55, not 60, 22. And yes, not all 22 year-old women wear a 42DD. But can't the bra industry keep in mind that some do? I hate shopping for bras. Everything over 36C is ugly and huge. And of course, hanging on the hangers they look hideously huge. I have actually sat in the middle of the aisle, in the middle of the store, and cried. I have fucking cried in a store because the bras were hideous. They look monstrously huge, and are plain and ugly. The bras are white, or tan. I can't find them in any other color, maybe black every once in a great rare while. And are they plain! Maybe a bow, maybe some sort of design on the fabric, but they are plain!!!

I want to wear a neon purple bra. I want to wear a glittery blue bra. I want to wear the novelty bras that come out at Christmas and stuff. I want more than bows and boring colors. I'm 22 and I want to wear stuff like normal 22 year olds.

And never mind even shopping for clothes period! I'm 5'3", so everything is too long or too big for me to begin with. But add the fact that I had two kids back to back, and I'm done. I went from a size 7 jean to my current size 16. And because I'm so busty, I can't wear the tiny ass clothes that normal girls my age wear!

Just because I wear bigger clothes does not mean I want to dress like a middle-aged woman (no offense, really, I promise!). I do not want to wear ugly shapeless overly sequined ugly shit. I don't want to wear hideous printed fabric. I do not want to wear shirts that look like they are shorter versions of muu-muus. I don't want to wear ugly colors.
And what about the stores that have cute stuff for smaller women that have an extension for the larger women? Do you think that they have the same kind of clothes but bigger? FUCK NO! It's the same ugly stuff as every other store.

So I gave up on shopping for new cute clothes. I will continue to wear larger t-shirts with jeans. I will continue wearing the comfortable clothes, and maybe even steal some stuff from my husband's drawer. And that, my dear readers, is my rant on how much I hate to shop. Thank you for your patience.

Hey Honey, relax! Try shopping Onlie! Here in Germany, we have Beate Uhse, a really big store for sexy lingerie and toys. They have all sorts and sizes for well built women such as yourself, they even have sexy lingerie for "thicker" women too! That is the best possibility. Send me a mail with your exact size and I will see if I can find what you are looking for. Afterall, I work next door to Beate Uhse!

Love from Germany

Here's my advice -

Fredericks of Hollywood (that's where the purple bra came from).
Torrid has really cute plus sized clothes (kind of goth but maybe that's not your style).
Deb Shops has a plus size section (as well as Fashion Bug).
I'm 36 and I have the same problems. Especially since I'm not a mom and don't want to have to look old yet.
Of course it sucks that you're only 22 and have to go through this. I know I didn't have the kind of money I do now for clothes back then.

Then there's this site called beautypluspower that has links to many other sites broken down into categories.

It was a good rant. I haven't actually cried. But I would get very frustrated and angry. Especially when shopping with my size 4 mother. There was this one time we were shopping for bathing suits together and she yelled across the store "Look they have the Delta Burke suits over here." She actually felt sympathy for me when I was shopping for a formal dress. I kept finding things that belonged on 60 yr old women. My mother couldn't understand why they don't make better looking dresses for women like me who have good bodies but just lots of it.

And thus ends the longest comment I have ever written

Have you shopped at a Lane Bryant lately? They have always been more younger crowd aware. And there is Torrid. Go over to the Boulevard or Meadows. Torrid is totally young. Plus they have cute lingerie too. I wear a 44DD (of course, I refuse to admit I might need larger) because then I can't get anything even remotely cute. Fashion Bug sometimes has cute bras for larger sizes too. It's not until you hit the 46 and up that your life sucks. Trust me. Then you really only have granny bras to choose from.

I personally like a woman in jeans and T-shirts, however I understand you cant go to a wedding or other special occations dressed like that, My EX had the same problem and she liked to go to Lane Bryant too. I shopped there for her a few times and the people there were very helpful and plesent. I cant help you with the bra delemma but Im sure there has to be a place for different colored undies. Good luck!!

YES!!! Some practical advice that I can use!! I love the two of you! ::grabs her notepad and jots down all the stores:: Now I'll mention it to my oblivious husband and go shopping!!!

Glasses- My mother doesn't really get it period. We go shopping together, and she still brings me stuff that no way in hell will stretch over my breasts. Or she'll go the other direction, it'll fit, but it's hideous. And I currently refuse to buy a bathing suit. I've had the same one for two years, and I used to buy two every summer.

Ana- I used to go to Lane Bryant, but when I was going, it was like shopping at GAP, but bigger sizes. So not my style. I haven't been to a mall in months. Even then, it was just to pick my friend up from work. Keep this on the down low: I think I might need a bigger size too. Shhh...

Ex- welcome to my little corner of cyberspace! I'm starting to think that I'm going to have to rethink my position on Lane Bryant, hmm...

there are some sexy things out there- harder to find- for the curvy woman-need better designers-

Camis with a built in bra are nice alternative too...

yes on Torrid...Lane..but sometimes you can find cute stuff at 'regular' stores too..

Sometimes more online- Fredrick's...etc...forget Victoria..lol

Delta has some cute bras & boy shorts actually...

Now if they could make lace thigh highs that actually stay up..lol

hugs to the godesses...

I've started wearing the camis with built in bras. Nice and comfy. Regular stores are a real let down for me. Their extra large is a small on me most of the time. Online shopping... a little bit of a gamble. It might look good on the site, but you can't try it on and see if it looks good on you.

I guess I'll jsut keep wearing my hubby's clothes. He doesn't mind.

I'm a freakin 34 C...and I want bigger boobs!!! True, I have all the cutesy bras you're longing for, but dammit!!!! I want boobs! And I'm going to get me some (quotes talldarkavg1 ) "boobage!"

Sure, they're fine. They're ample. They're still pretty damn pert. But I want my cup to runneth over!!! The ugly bras you mention??? Forget it! I'll get a lift too...no bra needed...EVER!

K...I'm done with my rant, lol. (eyes boobage in your post with envy)
