Ah, New Years again

The holidays have come and gone. New Year's is looming on the immediate horizon, and I'm less thrilled than usual. I've always hated New Years, and I have no idea why. My mom told me that it was the same when I was younger, so it definately isn't because of anything in particular.

This year though, I want to do something to celebrate. I'm 20 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip, and I'm of the age to go and party and dammit, I want to. Unfortunately, I have two toddlers, and my husband works that night. I wonder how dead the poker room will be???

My roommate, a fellow AdultFriendFinder member, may or may not have plans, but I don't think it'd be fair of me to ask her to stay and watch my kids, especially if she does manage to make plans before then.

Luckily, I don't get any tv reception, so I won't be able to watch the countdown. I won't even listen to the radio. Something tells me I'll be playing on my husband's PS2 or sitting on the couch with a DVD on and a book in my hand. Then again, I just might follow my family tradition and do it all by myself.

My family and I always have a glass of sparkling cider and eat 12 grapes at the stroke of midnight. The grapes are eaten in hopes of a prosperous year. Then, my youngest sister takes a coconut and we all follow behind her. We'll go from room to room saying "Coconut take the bad things out!" over and over. Then we roll the coconut out the front door over to the street, and smash the coconut on the street. According to Cuban tradition (thanks mom!) that should take all the bad juju out of the house. I just like the routine of it. I haven't had any proof yet that it works.

I haven't made up my mind. Still have time to decide though.
