The runaway bride and the J Springer news coverage

While reading todays blog postings and listening to the news on T.V. my attention was drawn to the recent story of the suspected kidnapping victim who was to be married today.
She was found in New Mexico, and apparently wasn't kidnapped, but left of her own volition. the impending wedding, and the pressures she felt, caused her to take off.
Lots of issues involved, with the investigation being focused on the groom-to-be, his having to retain a defense lawyer, lie detector tests, all the manpower used by the police and feebs. At this point it is up to the prosecutors, both local and federal as to whether any charges will be filed.
My attention though is drawn to the newscasters vow to keep "us" informed to developments in the relationship of the bride and groom's future plans together.
Does anybody feel that in addition to what both of these people have been through, that the last thing these 2 people need is more focus from the media. Already an interview with the prospective groom's family members, and what their speculation of the couple's future.
Family members shamelessly grabbing at this opportunity for 15 minutes of fame, stating their feelings!! How "Jerry Springer", and this is cnn, how exploitive, and like an idiot, here I sit, lapping it up!!

If there is a Question here, I guess I would like to know, do you think the families should be commenting on anything other than being grateful that the woman is alive, and not becoming involved in giving opinions about what the future holds for the the runaway bride and left behind groom?
I know it is only natural to want recognition and to pitch in your 2 cents, but if your family were to comment on a national newscast about your personal relationship, how would you react/feel?

I would hate it.. I would want my family to support me without the added pressured I'd already be faced with.. regardless of whom she hurt IE.. groom, 600 guests, parents.. too bad she felt she had to fake her own abduction in order to "breathe".. I hope she is given the chance to without the media needing to watch...

I welcome you to the House of Syn...

First off... it was a fairly easy 'call' - When I first read the story - the first thing through my mind was that she wasn't abducted...she was escaping the wedding...she didn't WANT to marry this guy. OK, now that we know that's the case - I don't think any..and I really mean that... ANY of us care what happens to her or her husband or their families. The media needs to stop focusing in stupid, non-relevent issues and start covering stories, people, events and topics that matter.

As far as my family commenting publicly on my personal relationships - I would hope that they wouldn't, but there's nothing stopping them from doing so. Again, it's more about the media and what they choose to cover and display for the world to see. THEY have a choice of that they are willing to print or broadcast.

lol I would do exactly the same thing I did when Boney and I seperated for a couple of months, tell them to shut their cake hole and it's none of their business who is doing what and how anything is progressing.....

Families can be so damaging to the relationships of its members once they really get going.....if I could I would disown mine!

I hate the network news, especially the moronic local newsreaders who sit there and act cute with each other. I get my news from NPR and the internet

The media often gets up in an uproar about a lot of things... and sensationalizes something that shouldn't be so. ...

One of the biggest issues regarding this happening is the expense of the search. I understand this woman was dealing with her own misgivings at the time she took off, but should she be liable and have to reimburse her town for this? It would be great if the media would let this go, but we all know how that is!
