To pic or not to pic, and other ad related ponderings

I wonder: do women respond more to an ad with a pic or without? I've had lousy results so far with my ad these last 4 weeks. I took off the pics I've had up there since I joined, figuring it certainly couldn't HURT at this point.

Does the mystery of NOT knowing what a man looks like make you more likely to respond to the ad, or do women generally not browse ads because of the high volume of responses they already get to their ad? What about the guys out there?

Personally, I've gone thru phases. I find I don't respond at all to an ad if I don't like the photo, of course. And I have responded to ads without photos to find out I wasn't attaracted to the woman once I saw what she looked like. For a while I was only responding to ads with photos, but so many of them are such ultra porn shotd they just don't seem real. Any thoughts here?

In general, I'm a little disallusioned with AdultFriendFinder. I've read some articles on the magazine side of things that put the odds of finding a woman for a man on this site at over 100 to 1 based on the sheer volume of men on here (not taking into account the nature of the man's responses, the quality of his ad and/or emails, etc.), complicated by the high number of fake ads and high percentage of response caps imposed on standard members, and further complicated by the large percentage of women who aren't even looking for men in the first place (note: I am by no means bashing lesbians or bisexuals. . . if I were a woman, I sure as heck wouldn't be wasting my time with men!).

My sex life by no means hinges on the results of my ad on AdultFriendFinder, and I don't care for the large numbers of posts out there in blog land whining about these facts, but the basic mathmatical facts of the site and its membership base are certainly discouraging.

I like the mystery to a degree. But I think I am more likely to respond when there is a picture on the profile.
