Past Lives...

What attracts people to each other? Is it physical attributes...pretty features...nice butt? I believe it is deeper than that...more spiritual..I read somewhere that our soul recognizes a person before we do...does that explain that feeling of comfort with some people? That instant connection like you have known this person all your life...had you? or why some people you instantly don't like...did they do you wrong in a past life? I believe we are all here on this journey called life and that we all have our own lessons to learn...mine may be different from yours...and vice versa..,so maybe the same people would also have their lessons to learn...and maybe you both need to continue to learn them together...from each other...that is why they continue to cross your path...I believe people come into our lives for a reason...maybe to learn from us...or to teach us...and some times both of those things...that is for us to figure out...we just need to be open to what the universe has to offer us...

I know what's beautiful when I see it ... and so often I see it in you. Don't take it personally if I amuse you ... life constantly forces me to be funny.

Do you think the big bang is a great way to create a universe? synchronicity or sinchronicity?

warm: that was an amazing occurance when you were a child...but a little scary...Children I think are more open to things of that nature...Have you experience anything similar after that one time?

I believe we don't pay enough attention to the unconscious mind...that little voice...our intuition...we override it with or conscious mind...our logic...

You are an amazing man...the more I know of you...the more you amaze me...and you hit the nail on the head...the essence of a person is the most important thing...

I think life holds deep paradoxes and maybe a paradox reflects the very limits of our capacity to understand. In quantum physics events can happen that are "coupled" but have no cause and effect, and a photon, the tiniest wave package of light can collide with itself if nothing else is there. I think therefore it is possible to be small players in a much bigger picture, with free will and the ability to learn and grow as individuals within a wider cosmic dance that has its own form. On one level it doesn't make sense but on another it does. I once had a terrifying clairvoyant dream that I was a child stuck in the mud in an estuary. It was vivid - I remember every detail now as if it was my own memory, and it wasn't the madcap storyline of a dream, with its cuts and switches but a constant conscious flow. I woke up crying out in a child's voice. I thought it was just a nightmare, but the news broadcast the story of the small child who drowned in the mudflat the day after the dream. Although chilling, my inner feeling is one of bereavement and grief. Now I cant explain what happened, but I know it to be true.

What I do know is that there is this paradox. Our consciousness, our self awareness arises from our brain function and for the most part rationalism is by far the best way of dealing with the world. But it's not all. Perhaps as souls we need all the paraphenalia of brains and bodies and such to connect with this world. And perhaps the Australian Aborigines are on the right track with their concept of dreamtime. Perhaps the whole purpose of our lives is to feed and nurture the soul through developing and learning, so we can move on. It is the very essence of who we are that is important rather than the trappings.

And maybe we do pass other souls on the way we somehow know, through intuition, through empathy or whatever, and in a non-rational way recognise them as the soulmates they are.

hugs as always{=}

dragonheat: I don't think all experiences are suppose to be pleasant ones but all of them in a some way are positive because we learn from them...we become better for them...even the ones that don't seem like we made a very good choice...we did...because of something we needed to learn from that experience...you only fail if you stop trying to succeed...

Life is the journey not the destination. You will meet people on the way who will influence your life in some way, if you let them. If you choose to walk by, that experience is lost forever (at least in this lifetime). You never know if that experience will be, or would have been a positive one or not. The risk is part of the journey. And it is really what makes the trip worthwhile.

Why is it that time softens some people, and hardens others? Reality perhaps is what we experience in the here and now and believe to be true and sensible sometimes in spite of our best judgment. It’s what we interact with, what our heart and senses interact with, and indeed where we live and move and have our being. It’s were we find ourselves before we begin to lose ourselves. It’s perhaps uncanny or essentially impossible to really live in any other moment or dimension unless of course we’ve somehow mastered the art or the essence of time travel. We generally travel toward the future but often find it quite difficult to actually live there. Apart from the inevitable, the probable, the possible, and past lives there’s very little left I’m afraid. Sometimes the best defense must somehow be a skillful surrender.

without: I absolutely agree with most of what you said...you are obviously a very intelligent and insightful man...and I am not discounting physical attraction and I am sorry if I gave that impression...absolutely...our eyes and libido are a major factor sometimes with who we are attracted to but I think we are on a journey in life and there are fellow travellers... soulmates and kindred spirits...those people don't always have to be of the opposite sex either...once you make that initial contact with them by talking to them you feel a certain affinity with them almost immediately...I believe it is from a past association...

Thanks you for making me your first post and for the lovely compliments...I hope you become interested in blogging...I would enjoy hearing more of your thoughts and ideas...

I'm a strong believer of past lives.
How else can you explain why a person can be glued to another whom is treating you badly except that perhaps you owe it to him in the past?

Make it your challenge.... turn me ON!!

moonfire, let me start by telling you what a terrific picture of your mouth/lips you have displayed; seductive, warm, good-humor, and friendly; that's what I see. I also have a strong feeling that the rest of the face is as lovely as the part shown.

Now to your posting. I can agree with some of what you espouse. I disagree mostly with the idea of coming back to try again and maybe the spirit/soul being the first to make contact. I strongly agree that we are all spiritual beings and that this aspect of us all is the most significant of our beings. But I think the physical attraction is the very first impression that we get, mainly because it's right their in front of our eyes. We see that "nice butt", those small or ample breasts, that pretty face, the nice hair, the clothing/jewelry, that large nose. That attraction, or "not eliminated", often determines whether or not we give that other a second glance or a sincere response vs a passing comment. I said often because there are times when the "needy" mood we are in could make us more receptive that at other times, the shear power of the other's personality, or who the other's friends and acquaintances are may get them past our "eliminator"/"rejector".

We are a product of our past, our memories, experiences, our up-bringing, our loves, our heartaches, our friendships, our fights. We who have been around a while have advantages, I believe, in dealing with others. Advantages because we have been thru it all before many times and know that possible rewards don't have anything to do with that first physical opinion. I think, because of our experiences, we are more inclined to give a person that does not "knock off our socks" a opportunity until they disappoint us but we have to make a conscious decision to do it. We are, a lot of times, closed to those that do not immediately give us that "good feeling". We often judge too quickly and fail to let a possible friendship have a chance to develop into what if could.

I have, during my life, had several instances when I felt that instant connection. However, in each instance that did not occur until after there had been conversation and at least a little time spent together. Call it love at first sight or whatever you want. It doesn't have to be with the opposite sex either. Some of my closest male friends and I hit it off immediately.

Sorry, I did not intend to write a book. I'll close because I've taken up too much time already and it's past midnight and time for bed. Sleep well.
