I'm back... did you miss me?

I'm guessing not. Too many other great bloggers out there.

Had a good weekend... not at the casino, but other places in town.

Paid $260 in "reparations" to the Saginaw Chippewa Tribe via the roulette wheel, video poker and the slots. Not too bad considering we were there for 2 days - only 5 hours or so in the casino though.

Watching people at the casino is at least as much fun as actually gambling though. All those retired folks... chain smoking, some dragging oxygen tanks, more than a few in electric scooters. Then there's the barely old enoughs... the young guys and gals getting carded on the way in. Had one of them stop by the rouletter table for a few... dropped $60 in a few minutes then vanished. We spotted him again later getting his ID scrutinized by security as he tried to get back in. Must have had to go out and break open his piggy bank for another run.

Drove back to my folks on Sunday so we could make my Uncle's funeral on Monday. Stopped by the funeral home on the way... felt weird going to "visitation" in shorts, but we certainly weren't the only ones to do so. We dressed "appropriately" for the funeral to be met by family members in jeans, t-shirts with the arms cut off, etc. Those of us in suits and dresses were at least met with equal numbers in casual clothes. When did funerals become casual? Did I miss the memo? I hate a suit as much as anyone, but weddings and funerals are the two places I pretty much still break one out without too much fuss. Just seems right, unless the participants tell you otherwise.

Well, gotta head back to work from lunch. Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Welcome back.

Let's see, $260 divided by 5 hours = $52 per hour. Not a bad rate. Oh, you were PAYING that? I thought you were EARNING.

I still dress up for funerals, too. Actually, I would be scared if the PARTICIPANT in the funeral told me to dress casually.

I have to agree that at least on weddings and funeral suits are to be worn.

Hey, dig out that tuxedo for the Masked Ball! (speaking of dressing for success)
