retraction....

I'd like to apologize for my post about the two moons ....seems it was a hoax after all...
my daughter and I waited up till a little before 1 am....and not only wasn't ther 2 moons...we didn't even see 1!!!a little disappointing to say the least...
but you know....as we sat on our deck outside....looking up at teh stars....drinking tea and snacking on homemade ginger snaps....we talked about all of her summer experiences...(she had her first kiss at camp) her anxiety about going back to school.....her friends....my new job.......we laughed....were serious and really connected so that any REAL dissappointment was.....overshadowed by.....just being together and wanting to share something ...special.

she told me she feels lucky that I'm her mom and I talk to her about so many things.....and we snuggled under a blanket...till it was time for bed.

so I do apologize for not seeing the so-called....phenomena.....but.I don't really feel that much remorse because she thinks......
(wait ....this is so cheesy you'll need crackers...)

"I OWN THE MOON..."
(her words....i swear!)
*warm hugs*

sometimes you find the greatest joy in a simple conversations, while the rest of the world passes by.

After reading your posts, I recall how my son and I used to talk during bath time when he was a preschooler and school aged. It was about the only time of the day when real life would not intrude on us and we would talk about all sorts of things from the silly to the serious. Looking back now, I think that this is why both of my children know that they can come to me with anything.

Keep that door wide open at all times...you will be glad you did

thank you so much for sharing such a sweet , touching moment!
I truly do everything I can to keep that door open...(she's a teen now and it seems to be her hormonal destiny to be selfish and secretive at the best of times)no one ever said motherhood was going to be easy, albeit ......rewarding

Sounds like you and your daughter had an AWESOME time together, worth MUCH more than any ole moon thingy! Times like that are precious and the opportunities for them don't come around often, especially as they get older. I really miss my kids not being kids anymore, but I am sure lovin' the grandma thing!
