18 and married?

Hey all. Welcome to my AdultFriendFinder journal, and thanks for taking the time to read. Hope you enjoy it.

Recently I broke up with my girlfriend, who was a friend long before we got into a relationship. We had our good times, but it was looking like it was getting too serious. Any of you know what I mean? That feeling where that person you're with is gonna be there forever? Many times this is a wonderful feeling, and you feel like soulmates and nothing on earth could be better.
But for me, an 18-year-old guy living in Las Vegas, the idea of a permanent relationship was an intimidating, if not scary, thought.
Now I know there are people who get married when they're 18. Or even 17 or 16. And if that's what makes them happy, good for them. I have nothing against them, but as for myself, I'd rather wait awhile to be tied down. As a matter of fact, the whole idea of "boyfriend/girlfriend" is kind of wacky when you think about it--you act like you're married to each other when you're not! You can't go anywhere without the other knowing where you are, and hanging out with others of the opposite sex is a big no-no. I'm sure several of you feel the same way about feeling 'tied down'.
So my question is, why does 'friends with benefits' have so many negative connotations attached? To society, having a physical relationship with someone without being committed to one another is practically a sin (it's only adultery if you're married!). Sure, in a sex-oriented community such as this it's no big deal. But when we're talking about the 'real world' so to speak, why is everyone so uptight? Why is it considered such a bad thing? Why don't more people hook up for a good time and not give it a second thought? I for one plan on staying away from the word 'committment' for quite some time--I've got all my life to settle down, why waste it all on one person?
And that's my thoughts for tonight. You're more than welcome to comment with your thoughts--agree or disagree. Thank you, and goodnight.
