its not right, brother
that in morning
we pass in parting
me in my long grey coat
thats hugging at the wind
and at evening end
we greet in park's late light
you on your bench
stained red t-shirt
dirty as your denim
bottle down, now unclenched love
right arm gone
and last hand mangled

yeah, well cape town is full of streetkids -- especially in the city centre, and apparently we are becoming the paedophile capital of the world. the only good thing about having such a reputation is that it looks like the government might finally get off its butt and do something about these overlooked children. can't even tell the number of times i wished i had the means -- financial and emotional -- to take a child home and look after them!

Your poems tug at my heart and mind. They leave me with a heaviness..a sadness.

I've wanted to reach out often and always to the children. The children in Africa..in South America..in Europe..in North America. They are an army of the neglected and the often abused. They exist everywhere.

Many adults seem to lament.."What is wrong with kids today?"
The answer has always been..the adults.
