I AM....a burning man
I AM....a burning man
Well, in light of all the reports of the coming winter heating fuel costs, I raced out and got my hot little hands on a genuine, multi-chamber, cast iron wood furnace. After the 'some assembly required' session, and along with the potentially confusing 'parts left over' period, I crumbled up the still pristine instructions to flash start my first pile of kindling. On the back of the paper, in three different languages (I assume, as I only speak one) was this litlle ditty.
"Let Treedom Blow Smoke Rings"
by Joist Kilner
I think that I shall never see
A fuel as lovely as a tree.
A tree whose lofty boughs when cut
Protect me from the oilman's glut
A tree that gave forgotten shade
Will fuel the fires of revolt's brigade
A tree that held the landscape still
When gone allows the sliding hill
No roots clung deep in fertile soil
It rushes down flood water's roil
Lung bearing beings multiplyin'
If we don't inhale, we'll all be fine
Trees work hard for fools like me
But only God fearing, self-serving, myopic me first, bottom line dollar conscious, no rear mirror, apocolyptic, fear mongering, what...me worry...about a next generation?, apostles of the apothecarian addiction, temple dwelling money changers...
can extinct a tree

...well, actually, I won't be burning any trees...the post was satire, alluding to the effects of mass mentality. My point is that when 'we' decide to do something, we are seldom aware of how big 'we' are, and how devastating our grazing will be.|
...my prediction is that in year one, sales of wood burning stoves will go through the roof...a pun, I know...
...then in year two, the affect of all the drain on that particular natural resource will begin to make itself known.
...by year three, the insurance companies will react to the higher incidence of house fires by requiring a rider for wood burning furnaces.
...there will come a time, when insurance will be so expensive, or exclusive, that some a small voice will make a huge noise, by explaining how savings would cost half as much as insurance. (but where to find the restraint.....)
