This weekend I got my cherry popped!!!!

At repoing, that is!!!

Got your attention, didn’t I???!!!

This weekend, my friend invited me to go with him to help repo cars…Although the repomen are now fondly called, “Recovery Specialists” (Always have to be politically correct!)

Anyway, we started out about 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. He drove and I navigated using the GPS on his laptop computer…TOTALLY COOL…Got to get me one of those for the road trip!!! Lol

The weather was warm and very humid, and cumulus clouds filled the sky. We arrived at our first destination…No car…Second house, there was a vehicle that matched the description, but the VIN didn’t match, so that didn’t work. Funny thing, it was a red truck. As we were driving through the town, it seemed like every single person owned a red truck!.. Is it a requirement that in order to live there, you had to own a red truck?????

Third house, no car, but we talked to a guy who owned a car lot next door, and he gave us directions to the where the people had moved. He also told us that he had just sold the people a car…CASH! So we drove to the next town to look for them. Found the house, found no car… Unfortunately, when we had stopped to talk to that guy, my friend put his wallet on top of the vehicle, and then drove off! OUCH! So we spent about an hour or more going back and forth between these towns looking for the wallet…Never found it. Bummer!!

Fourth house, NO HOUSE!!! Lol…the people not only had gone, but they had taken the house with them! All that was left was the foundation on which it stood.

Oh, forgot to mention, my friend got a call around 9:00 p.m. and found out that his wallet had been found and turned in to the sheriff’s department! There ARE good Samaritans out there!!!!

Okay, okay, you see how my day went. We were coming up short at every single house, so we decided to check out a few more addresses, and then call it a night. The next stop was in an apartment complex. This was HUGE! There were buildings everywhere! It was so funny because the GPS was going crazy with all the turns we were making trying to find the right building. Ironically, the building we were looking for was the first driveway we past as we came into the complex! I laughed hysterically at that!! HEHE However, no car matching what we needed was there.

By now it’s about 10:30-11:00 p.m. We were both getting tired, but we wanted to check out one more address. Then the rain hit. And hit it did! It poured for about an hour. We still dredged on, and found the house we were looking for…and there it was…a silver quad cab Dodge Ram…sitting in the driveway. The adrenaline was pumping now! But so was the rain!! We drove around for awhile in hopes that it would let up before going back to pick it up. About 12:30 am, my friend talked to the owner, explained what was going on, and allowed him to get his belongings out of the truck. The owner was very cooperative, which made our job much easier. I drove my friend’s vehicle, while he drove the truck away…The owner stood in the driveway, watching.

This morning we took the truck to the auction lot and then checked out a few more houses, as well as, the houses we checked out yesterday. No cars to be found anywhere… However, we did find the car that the salesman had sold to the people in house number three!

I got home around 4:00 p.m. this evening, completely exhausted. For my first experience at repoing, it was a lot of fun.

Holy Moly, what a night!

This sounds like one of those jobs that could be rather exciting, until you had to deal with an owner who was drunk and mad because someone was taking his vehicle. It could get hairy then!

Glad you made it back OK

It was really exciting, but I am glad it was only for twenty-four hours! Don't know if I could go any longer...

Thanks Silver
