I am hereby officially tendering my resignation as an adult. I have decided I would like to accept the responsibilities of an 8 year-old again.
●I want to go to McDonald's and think that it's a four star restaurant.
●I want to sail sticks across a fresh mud puddle and make a sidewalk with rocks.
●I want to think M&Ms are better than money because you can eat them.
●I want to lie under a big oak tree and run a lemonade stand with my friends on a hot summer's day.
●I want to return to a time when life was simple, when all you knew were colors, multiplication tables, and nursery rhymes, but that didn't bother you, because you didn't know what you didn't know and you didn't care. All you knew was to be happy because you were blissfully unaware of all the things that should make you worried or upset...
●I want to think the world is fair.
●That everyone is honest and good.
●I want to believe that anything is possible. I want to be oblivious to the complexities of life and be overly excited by the little things again.
●I want to live simply again. I don't want my day to consist of computer crashes, mountains of paperwork, depressing news, how to survive more days in the month than there is money in the bank, doctor bills, gossip, illness, and loss of loved ones.
●I want to believe in the power of smiles, hugs, a kind word, truth, justice, peace, dreams, the imagination, mankind, and making angels in the snow.
♪So . . . here's my checkbook and my car keys, my credit card bills and my 401K statements. I am officially resigning from adulthood.
♪And if you want to discuss this further, you'll have to catch me first, cause........"Tag! You're it."

I whole heartedly agree, I resign also but I must include one major reason you seemed to have either forgotten or just ran out of time writing. SNOW!!! I know it immediately strikes fear into all adults minds, Shoveling, Scraping and brushing off the car, wet feet, Snow Plows throwing snow at you or your vehicle, losing control while driving, the other idiot losing control, and the list of miserable reasons for adults hating snow goes on and on. |
Now to caveat that with my experience this past winter which reminded me the awesome pleasures of the the true white powder "Snow". I came home on R&R from my second Iraq tour to my native homeland of Boston (I'm in Georgia due to the military but it is nice here) well it was covered with snow and we had another storm while I was there. These simple things are often over looked by most people but coming from Iraq you life takes on a different meaning and you can enjoy what people may dismiss, so I went out with my nephews, and we went to the local hill and had such an intense day of absolute bliss sledding that we were the last ones there until well after dark and got up the very next morning to be out there a first light. Not to mention snow ball fights where you can throw objects at each other and not inflict any damage but still have the fun of hitting each other, building Igloos, snow men, snow dogs, snow angles, ice skating, we jumped off of the garage into the snow banks, and played king of the mountain on the large ones ( I had to play on my knees and the local kids were all allowed to gang up on me) but that was amazing fun. Well that's my reason for resignation, now who do I submit the paperwork too and what form number is it.

Can i come play with you ? You can keep your clothes on for now i like what you wrote here wish i could go to a mountain cabin with somebody special.. ditch the stupid PC, TV and live without any bullshit in routine life. We would have to pack in M&Ms from the city though lol Can still offer a hug, a smile and perform randoms acts of kindness to include making snow angels where i live. In fact i made a lady friend several who lives in Florida snow angles and took picturs for her just because she remembered those as a child. SO my ass freezing was worth it.. I've aged but i still have the heart of a child|
Little things matter most.
