My dad is the greatest

I am the luckiest girl alive.
I finally broke the news to my dad.
He listened as I told him every thing and didn't say a word. When I was finished I look at him and he had tears in his eyes but he calmly gave a little speech.
He told me that whatever I wanted to do he would help and be there for me no matter what. He said I would always be his little girl but I wasn't a baby anymore.
He took me away to Brisbane for a few days after I rang my mum in Adelaide and she hung up on me when I told her.I hurt me more than I thought it would so my dad just took me away for a few days.
Even though work is really busy, he took the time to have a few days with his little girl.
Sometimes I wonder what I did to deserve a dad like him. How does someone get to be like he is?
I hope I can be half as good as him when my little one grows up.
Luv Katie

Well Katie with such a wonderful example of loving parenting like that from your father, combined with your appreciation of his efforts, then I am quite sure that you will do really well.
It is unfortunate that your mother reacted in the way she did, so it is possible that she has issues that she hasn't dealt with. Write her a letter detailing your hurt but forgiving her for her reaction. If she doesn't respond then let things be, as it will be up to her to return the ball so to speak.
Your dad knows that no matter how busy work is, work will always be there, but he only has one of you.
All the best to both of you.

hey there, my mum called me every name under the sun when I told her that I was pregnant, and I was 17 at the time, but after a while she came around to the idea and she was there when my daughter was born, and now she is 12. There is still hope yet, and sometimes it takes a while to 'adjust' to life changing news! I hope all goes well for you in the future and look forward to your posts.
Take care of yourself, that's the most important thing.
