A Buring Sensation? That Would Just Be Shame.

So, it's summertime right? Time to do some light reading. Me and my friends are off to the pool to get some sun, perve on some fine looking people, and get some excersize all in one pleasurable outting. So, I jump in the pool, go swimming for about an hour, sit in the sun to dry off, and pull out some light reading.

As I sat there...

in the sun...

reading my book...

I suddenly remembered...

something.

...

the book...

my roommate lent me...

my roommate...

the roommate I shall now hate...

had...

a strange title...

on...

the...

cover...

Lolita. I just spent the past 20 minutes reading a book with "Lolita" emblazed across the front.

with a picture of a young blond girl in makeup.

in the middle of a family swimming park.

as I was stripped down half naked.

wearing nothing but a swimsuit.

Nothing had changed. Nothing except the feeling of one thousand eyes buring a hole into me. Into the book. Into my tiny embarrassed little soul.

I can still see the imaginary eyes of horrified mothers and scared little children running away to the exit of the swim park. Fathers pulling their children away to safty as they yelp in confusion. General chaos and pandamonium errupting as people stuggle to put something- anything- time, space, poolchairs, rubber toys, plants, dogs, other people- between them and...

... then I relaxed. I relaxed because I remembered 85 percent of Japanese seem unable to read english well enough to care.

The moral boys and girls?

Never trust your roommate and always wrap your book in the little brown covers you get in Japanese bookstores. There is a good reason.
