Dont call to complain about all tickets

A good friend of mine (John) is a State Trooper for a northern state. One day he told me a story of pulling a guy over who was weaving back and forth in his lane and speeding.

After John checked to make sure the driver was not drunk, he gave him a ticked for speeding. The driver tried to talk his way out of it, but John did his job and gave the driver his ticket.

A few hours later John got a message to call his supervisor. John called and talked to his LT.

The driver who got ticket was upset and called to complain. Being a good supervisor this one listened to the story. The driver told the LT that he was not trying to speed, but that in the process of reaching into the back seat of the car to get something, he accidently pushed a bit on the gas and moved the steering wheel a bit. The driver was trying to strongly suggest that John had been wrong in giving a speeding ticket.

The LT told the driver that he was correct, John had made a mistake and that the issue would be taken care of as soon as possible.

The LT then told the driver that John should have also issued a ticked for said driver not paying attention while driving. LT asked if John should mail him his other corrected ticket. Said driver, while chocking said "No, thats ok".

John did not mail any other tickets, and I dont think that driver will call again to complain about something like that again. I do think it was funny. Though, I do not like seeing the flashing lights in my rearview mirror.
