Collecting smiles

I’m taking three days vacation to help a friend that’s a small business owner. He makes plant hangers and sells them at a variety of home and craft shows. Consequently I’ve been spending ten hours a day ripping fourteen inch two by fours into three eighth inch slats. I'm talking eighteen to 20 hundred a day. After spending an hour in the sauna at the city pool this evening I vowed I was going straight to bed when I got home. But being the addicted blog reader I had to check-in. So thanks to “C” I feel obligated to write the following.

Everyday I enjoy collecting smiles. I’m walking across campus watching the person coming towards me. They’re staring down at the side walk as they go Their mind in another world. Just before we meet they look up and our eyes meet, “have a good day” I say with a grin. Just before we pass we smile at one another. Seldom do I receive an audible reply, maybe because none is required. The smile is the reply.
I come here to blogland to read others smiles. Tiller, Traveling, Heavenly, Bunzy, MizzK. I have also shared you’re aches as some of you have mine. Thank you to each of you for enriching my life.

There is no doubt in my mind we all have the ability to be Masters of our day. No matter what unexpected event occurs today I have the choice to feel either fear or love. Granted in the first 100 milliseconds fear is a good thing. Some refer to it as the fight or flight instinct. I call it drawing the sword or unassing the area. Either may safe my life. But in the end, after the dust and smoke have cleared, I feel love for the experience.
Tomorrow, collect a couple smiles. It’s good for you, and you may save someone’s day.

I know wha tyou mean...I do the transit system on a daily basis (think global, people) and I love to smile at strangers. The idea that we can randomly cause a chemical reaction in othes really turns me on.....
