TOGA Info and How -To

Worn by men of a certain rank and of the whitest softest lightweight wool - the toga was the formal dress of Ancient Rome. Yes, it was worn over another garment. And women never wore togas. But nevermind - for modern adventures one whitest of white king size flat sheet will work wonders - you will also need two large safety pins.

Place your naked body into the center fold of the sheet, pick up the front and back loosly to cover that shoulder and safety pin it from underneath to form a shoulder and armhole thing. That's the one sid done. Women should wear a bra and pin the sheet to the bra strap for extra support. The pin should not be very visible.

Now it gets complicated and you will need another person's help. Using the rear end of the sheet wrap it around your other side and drape the corner up onto your shoulder and hold it there temporarily. Take the front end and wrap it back around your side (notice the overlapping) and tuck that corner onto your shoulder under the first corner you put up there. Got all of that?

Your body should be fully but loosely enclosed and two shoulders are covered but only the one has been secured. Now is the time to adjust the drape so you can walk freely. If you are not as tall as some others, you may want to use a double sheet rather than a king - just use a flat sheet please.

The final pin secures not only the two corners but may also include a bit of the top edge of the front as well - nothing excessive. Pin from underneath. There you are! A modern version of a toga that will not fall off or expose you to view until you are quite ready to be exposed.

Happy Partying!

Thank you. I have attended a few toga parties in the past - always using the classic and elegant toga as in my blog, if only to laugh at the men's interpretations - and to watch for when those 'togas' fall off, of course *W*

"safety pin" Wimps.

A proud member of Tau Epsilon Phi and been to many toga parties. (Every other month at college). Safety pins are for wimps. The secrets of wearing a toga sheet has been past down from fraternity brother to fraternity brother and no pins.

And we had to dance with them and not to fall off.

I'm also Scottish, so you know about Scottish men wear underneath!
