Recumbent fun in the garage......continued

"Ahha! it lives!!!!"

Last night I completed the main structure of my tricycle recumbent. It's been over two years in the making, cost a small fortune in materials and R&D costs but it's almost ready for the road.

It has four speeds in a Shimano Nexus hub.
The frame is tubular and square section steel.
The body of the seat is sculpted fiberglass, kevlar composite and wire mesh.

It is designed to carry freight under the driver. This will be carried in a removable freight bag that I'm working on.
It's big, and not pretty but the seat is very comfy.

Steering is fly-by-wire and automatically restricts tight turns when the driver reclines for greater speed. This aims to reduce the alarming handling seen on other rear steer trikes.

Now along with the freight sack I've got to work on all the extra seat padding and lighting. I've got to avoid the temptation to pimp my recumbent. I'm itching to add speaker pods and dump the freight sack in favour of a massive boom tube speaker slung underneath. Must resist.

Don't ever give up searching for the fun in life.
