Curse of the moron caller.....

This is one for folk who earn a crust by taking calls from the public all day. It's also for anyone that works in the public services sector where they suffer face to face contact with the public and have to remain polite.

On several occasions whilst in my local Job Centre Plus, (Americans please read as "Labour Exchange" I think.), I have witnessed staff trying to interview benefit claimants who refuse to speak.
They refuse to speak, not because they can't or because they can't speak a language. They hear perfectly well too. No they just refuse to speak because they think that if they are obstructive enough then the world will come to them. Wrong.

Now obviously the UK gets a lot of benefit claimants who don't speak English. This is fine. If the individual starts talking in their own language, (what ever that is....), then there are translators available to the civil service departments.

I have the utmost respect for civil servants. Most of them have many times more patience than I have.

In al the jobs I have had so far, although I've never been a civil servant we still get the same idiots. People who just call, give the wrong name and an incorrect password, account number, whatever. They refuse to tell anyone what they want. They refuse to use their first language or tell anyone what that is.

These timewasters are the curse of the modern call centre. They only talk when someone cuts them off.

spunky11961 & cuteNEway. Cattle I can handle. Cattle at least communicate at a basic level. I don't do mind-reading. Perhaps that's what these customers want. Or perhaps they like to be treated badly. How about face to face interviews with someone dressed in bondage gear, ten inch heels and a whip. Sadly they're never going to get the same experience over the phone.

SEXYLADY6566 Thank you for visiting my blog.
Yes, the British civil service has translators for Chinese and most other languages.

Hello, I do not speak Chinese.
I talk to Chinese people with the help of an Interpreter.
你好, 我不講中文。
我與中國人民談話在口譯員幫助下。

This was translated by the worldlingo online translator
