John Lennon Is Not Dead

Well, he is still dead but his artistry lives on:

My 12 yr old daughter has fallen in love with John Lennon and the music of the Beatles. It is Beatlemania Revisited here.

She is easily as nuts about the Beatles now as anyone from a prior generation was then. She got into my old Beatles albums (mostly reprints but still over 30 years old) and tried to wheedle them away from me.

Her favorite Christmas presents weren't the new video games or other toys she recieved. It was the John Lennon/New York City t-shirt with the quote from
Imagine and the book of Beatles facts I gave her.

Any other Beatlemaniacs still around out there?

UPDATE!

While bopping around in my basement I ran across this old post, and thought I ought to update it and put it out as a sticky for a few days.

Both my girls are still Beatles fans and I think it will be a lifelong love. Also, my son is now a bona fide Zappaphile! Yippie!

Still a proud papa here!

Blog on!

Thank You for Your Time and Attention

Most felt Paul was the cutest, but like your daughter, I thought John was the man. My kid sister tossed my memorbilia after I moved out and i have never forgiven her for that.

Pure music, nothing manufactured. It was sung with heart and soul, something that is not seen or heard of much today.
Your daughter has good taste, as far as Elvis, he is the KING!!

I liked the beatles and still do, but I'm really more of a Led Zeppelin fanatic.

I still remember when the Beatles first came over here and were on the Ed Sullivan show. Remember that?

I really liked the Beatles.. and went to their movies... What was your favorite movie... lol.. I remember making our for just about the entirety of Yellow Submarine once.. lol.

But I have only recently gotten back into them. I now have added most of their complete collection. My daughter just doesn't get into them much. In spite of my urging. But she humorously is finding now (thanks to me) that very much of the newer music she does like is simply covers of beatles songs or indirectly related to them.

She has however adopted much of the "Classic Rock" that I grew up with. Springsteen (early), Zeppelin, Rush, Van Halen, Aerosmith, The Who, and even Dylan, etc. It does my heart proud to hear "Layla", or "Free Bird" or "Won't Get Fooled Again" emminating from her iPod.

Fun blog Keith just keep on ....

My daughter picked this one up pretty much on her own without any prompting from me. Heck, after she went thru the pop idols like Brittinay Spears, and the kids from ABBA (the "A" somethingorother), she was into country for about a year and a half. Thank goodness that is over with now!

This Beatle thing came out of nowhere, and she now has her older 16 yr. old sister into it too.

I am the Walrus... Music where the image was not manufactured to be a hit. To think that the Beatles were taken out of their leather jackets and denims and put into suits to be accepted image wise in the public eye is manufacturing, but Sergeant Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band turned the circle. Last weekend on a bus I overheard this old guy telling a group of kids stories. He threw this question ate them, Which Beatle released the most albums after the group split up? Sorry to ruin the question with his answer but he said, Ringo! I really want to know the answer, The only song of Ringo's I can remember is, 'Banapple gas'.

OMG now we are showing our age!
I still listen to the Beatles. Since I bought all the LPs I didn’t think I was stealing music when I downloaded everything onto my computer and burned it onto a CD. My guys like Pink Floyd! I turned my Orch -a-Dork daughter onto Symphonic Pink Floyd (London symphony orchestra) and all her Orch-a-Dork friends wanted a copy of the CD.

The Beatles are great! I grew up with a mother who was a 60's flower child, so I listened to them all the time. I still do. I also love classic rock...Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Pink Floyd. I get to hear a lot of pop music in my house, though, my daughters are all about Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson, etc. They all sound the same to me. I try to expose them to REAL music!

Keith, well i would never have guessed Ringo released the most "post beatles" albums...

...driver, as parents it is our moral duty to expose them to real music. Not the fabricated, sounds alike, no talent bilge that is being produced today. Just my opinion.. lol

Wonderful comments all around and I thank everyone for their participation, so keep em coming if you check back in.

Pink Floyd... wow, what a memory. I saw them live in 1972 I think (might have been 73). Anyway it was the Dark Side Of The Moon tour. Heard the entire album live plus an extra hour or so of past tunes. Roger Waters rocked (he played
Careful with that Axe Eugene and I was enthralled)

OK, greeneyes, we may be old enough to remember real music and I'm real card carrying member of AARP, BUT...I am not riding the goddam bus to Branson with a bunch of bluehairs! ("Oh, Ethel, he's such a nice young man") Don't put us out to pasture yet.

I thought I saw Pink Floyd back in the 70's then I realised it was a bad acid trip and I was watching a poster.
LOL, Yep, those were the days my friend.

And that was the best concert Pink Floyd ever did, wasn't it? Then there's tripping at Disney World - Hi, Mickey!

I do love my Zappa sporty! I saw three of his shows spanning from the early seventies to the early eighties. Marvelous music and fun shows with "audience participation".

ONE FALL MORNING IN THE QUAD BEFORE CLASS...

Gawd, don't ya just hate starting out the school year facing another Student Council Election? It's like a glaring reminder than I have no clique to belong to. I so hate my life.

koocnachtiekYeah, I know what you mean. Unless you're a cheerleader or a jock it's a waste of time to even try to run for those offices. Then if ya do, it just points out to everybody just how unpopular you really are around here. How embarassing...

Fer sure, like it is soooo stupid. Gag me with a spoon...

Barbiebunny69Oh, I think the captain of the SWIM TEAM is Dreamy! I'd vote for him, but he doesn't even know I EXIST!

Like, Oh my God! He is so bitchin. Totally.
