Here I am in Cuba
Here I am in Cuba
Well, I've been recently sent to Cuba in support of the Global War on Terrorism. I've been here for almost a month now. I don't think it's so bad, have had a few run ins with the wild life that I could handle...
I had ridden the bus to the Exchange to pick up a few key essential things, Pepsi, Pepsi and more Pepsi. I think I also picked up a TV tray for my laptop too . I had found a case of Cherry Pepsi for 12.50, figuring, what a great deal I picked it up. It was in a cardboard box and I proceeded to the Bus station to get a ride back to my apartment. I got on the first bus I saw and that's when I realized my mistake. Ok, not really, I didn't realize the mistake til 20 min in it never went back to anything close to my apartment. Damn, wrong bus. So after an hour of driving around and seeing the base (figured I'd stick it out for the whole ride to see what's around), I finally get off to catch the correct bus. As I got off the bus my Pepsi cardboard case fell in and went all over the sidewalk and street. It was great. An hour of a hot sweety bus ride and then this. Ahhh, if only that was the end. So there I was watching in slow motion as my beautiful Pepsi's hit the ground when I notice something large and tan on the edge of my now deconstructed box, a scorpion. Ah yes, a scorpion, big and tan, about the size of my hand too. I was like "Holy $#!t" and hit the box on the ground to let him go. Of course a few moments later I was thinking to myself "Damn, I wish I had a container to take him home in, he'd make a great pet" . Haven't spotted a scorpion since, kind of sad really, their so cool looking. (hmmmm....next tattoo? or too cliche?)
Then there was the first time I started running again...
There I was running along the sidewalk and came up to the speed check monitor. You know, the ones that tell you how fast you're going and flash if you're going to fast. So I saw it and decided to sprint to see how fast I can go. I was cruising up to 8, 10, 12 and then 15 WHAM. Well, you see what happened is the sidewalk is a little uneven. And as I was sprinting my left leg was at the peak of this uneven pavement, and as my right leg came down, it went down a lot further than anticipated. So, in short, OW. Got a nice sidewalk burn and continued running. My friend suggested that I put something on it, so I cleaned it up some more and put some hydrogen peroxide on it and it's getting better. Have ran two other times since and no accidents .
That's about it really, not sure how this is going to go, but I think this is a good start
