A Remote Southeast Asian Capital

Loud pop music from a neighboring country stops at 11:45, as the official curfew is going to be enforced at midnight. Girls leave the disco, as Communist Party informers stay on to drink some more. It is illegal for people of this country to have sex with foreigners. Lightening in the remote sky illuminates the horizon without sound.

The river that runs through the city borders several countries. In a dry season, the water level recedes and creates small islands. On the side of the river is ongoing construction of a first-ever five star hotel in this country. The quiet of this beautiful place is soon to be lost.

Old ladies sell birds at a local temple. Releasing the birds will earn you a merit for the next incarnation. But, what am I releasing really? Stress? Greed? Socially imposed morales? Or the way of life as I knew...
