Sex vs. Relationships

I have been perusing the advice postings in the magazine section of the site this evening and noticed that there are a lot of postings dealing with building relationships. There are also a lot of postings dealing with sexual issues, techniques, preferences, etc. While many of the profiles I have reviewed on this site clearly appear to be people looking for sex partners, there are a good number of profiles which seem to be people looking for a long term relationship. But are these two goals mutually exclusive? At least for those of us who are single, I do not believe they are mutually exclusive. After all, long term relationships do not just happen (or do they?), you have to build them. Sometimes you have to date several different people (not necessarily at the same time) before you find one you can develop a long term relationship with. Is it wrong to explore your own sexual fantasies in the process? As long as you are careful and practice safe sex, there is no reason why you can't seek sexual fulfillment while also seeking your soul mate. Who knows, you may find your soul mate while exploring your kinkiest sexual fantasy. Then again I may just want to have my cake and eat it too. What do you think?
