Having a Bad Day

The day actually started out pretty good. I got up at 6:15 a.m. and went to the pool to swim laps (I am trying to get back into the habit of swimming at least 4 times a week and have gone to the pool the last three mornings in a row to swim at least 15 laps). I actually swam 20 laps this morning and it felt great. Now I had never used goggles before when swimming, and the past three mornings were no different in that regard. Within a half hour, my eyes were f burning and irritated. It also felt like I had something caught in each eye. My eyes continued watering, and reading documents on the computer screen was difficult. On top of that, my ISP server kept shutting down (a lot of my work is done over the internet). By midday, the problem with my eyes got so bad, I had to go to the Optometrist to have the problem checked out. That turned out to be a good move on my part as it turned out that I actually had a medical condition. The chlorine from the pool water had caused dry spots to form on my corneas, which was what felt like a foreign object caught in my eye. The Optometrist prescribed antibiotic drops, which have soothed the irritation considerably. Unfortunately, I was still unable to focus enough to read documents on the computer screen the rest of the business day, and still could not get my ISP server to stay on line, making for a very unproductive day. This is bad, because in my line of work I am basically selling my time. When I cannot get my work done, it has a direct impact on my billables. Fortunately, my ISP server worked fine this evening from my home computer and my eyes had improved to the point that I was able to salvage a part of the day by getting several hours of work done this evening. Don't you just hate it when your day falls apart and it seems like you can't get anything done? I certainly do.

I love the picture you chose to go along with this post. Hopefully, tomorrow will be a better day.
